Job Description

Magic Moments runs a breakfast and after school club at a the local primary school the hours are approximately 3 - 6pm. We also run a holiday club during non term time, these hours are 8am - 6pm daily this provides you with an opportunity to increase you weekly hours during this time if preferred.

Due to the high demand for our club, we are looking for an enthusiastic Play worker someone who is bubbly and confident to join our team.

Accountabilities:

To work under the supervision of the Management & any other Senior members of staff as directed. Please note, qualified & experienced staff will be expected to work using their own initiative as appropriate, but should ALWAYS refer to their Deputy Manager /Manager and Proprietor if at all unsure about any procedure.

Aims:

The care & well being of all children is paramount.

Objectives:



1. In conjunction with the proprietor and other team members, plan, organise and implement a varied activity programme for all children.

2. Ensure that details of the activity programme are communicated to the children, the parents and other staff members.

3. Provide full care of the children, including delivery and collection of children to and from school. Carry contact numbers and a mobile phone on all journeys.

4. Contribute to the development of the Club.

5. To set a good example to the Play care staff team. Be able to organise, motivate and be a good role model for the other team members. Take an active role in encouraging and supporting other staff members.

6. Handle enquiries for bookings etc as and when needed.

7. Carry out all responsibilities and activities within an equal opportunities framework.

8. Work within Ofsted's National Standards and the Club's adopted policies and procedures.

9. To observe confidentiality at all times.

10. Attend all relevant training opportunities.

11. To act as a good role model to the children in your care.

12. To communicate professionally, with parents, and other adults involved in the care of the children, on a daily basis.

13. To monitor the welfare of the children.

14. To clear away activities, including mopping, cleaning and sweeping floors.

15. To supervise groups of children in play.

16. To encourage the children to take an active part in the organisation, rule making and suggestions for activities of the Club, and regularly discuss new ideas that the children may have.

17. To clean toys & equipment on a regular basis, reporting any hazards, breakages or repairs to the Management.

18. To promote respect for others.

19. To lead by example - remembering that the children learn from what they see around them.

20. To have high standards of personal hygiene.

21. To prepare and clean up after snacks.

22. To clean tables with Anti-bacterial spray before and after snacks.

23. To check the toilets before the club starts, regularly during and after the club has closed.

24. To watch the children to and from the toilets especially if the Salon is open.

25. To escort parents out of the building, ensuring the main entrance and exit door is securely closed behind them.

26. To empty and reload the room of all of it's equipment on specific days, ensuring at all times you have adequate help and you are aware of Magic Moments Moving and Lifting policy.

27. To sign the children in on their arrival from school and ensure the parents sign them out on their departure.

28. To ensure the highest levels of safety, security, hygiene and cleanliness are operated in the Club at all times.

29. To report anything of importance to the Nursery Proprietor or Deputy Manager, and to use the "Walkie Talkie System" should a senior staff member be absent from the room and you need help.

To carry out any other task as requested by a Senior Staff Member or the Proprietor. Skills and Qualities Required:

? To care for children individually & in groups.

? To be a key worker for a small group of children.

? To monitor their welfare.

? To observe children in a variety of situations to assess their progress & development.

? To complete progress charts.

? To write reports on individual children & complete "Home / Nursery Communication Books."

? To plan & prepare activities taking into account the children's stages of development.

? To clear away activities (including mopping & sweeping floors).

? To promote tidiness & cleanliness in children.

? To supervise groups of children at play.

? To promote high self esteem in all children.

? To practice positive behaviour management.

? To keep play areas tidy & encourage children to help.

? To clean toys & equipment on a regular basis, reporting any hazards, breakages or repairs to the Management.

? To promote respect for others.

? To observe confidentiality at all times - both within the Nursery & outside.

? To lead by example - remembering children learn from what they see around them.

? To be ultimately responsible for the day to day management of own room, encouraging good practice by the other staff in your room with regard to work with the children.

? To develop excellent communications with parents/ carers, encouraging them to participate in their child's progress and development. To liase professionally on a daily basis.

? To ensure correct adult to child ratio at all times.

Hygiene

? To have high standards of personal hygiene.

? To train children in appropriate hygiene practices eg toilet training; handwashing after using the toilet; handwashing before & after meals; protecting clothes at meal times.

? To clear away after meals.

? To wash dishes / sweep & mop floors in the Nursery as required.

? To clean tables before & after every session with anti-bacterial cleaning spray.

? To clean toilets & potties after use by children.

? To clean wash hand basins.

? To clean floor areas after "accidents".

? To clean changing mats & high chairs as required.

? To ensure the highest levels of safety, security, hygiene and cleanliness are operated at all times within your room (and the rest of the Nursery).

Laundry

? To change bed linen; rinse bibs & clothing prior to placing in linen bins

To carry out any task as requested by Senior Staff / Management.

Job Types: Part-time, Permanent

Pay: 12.80-13.00 per hour
