We have an exciting opportunity for a PLC Software Engineer to join our Automation Controls team on a permanent basis. The successful individual will develop, prototype, commission and troubleshoot in-house repeatable PLC controlled systems and work with third party suppliers to integrate external solutions at OSP (Ocado Smart Platform) or existing Ocado warehouses. You\xe2\x80\x99ll have the opportunity to work on cutting edge technologies and systems and work with project engineering team to prototype and test all repeatable PLC controlled mechanical handling equipment (MHE) systems. Roles & Responsibilities

• Develop a PLC library that allows the fast creation of new OSP peripheral stations.
• Develop a PLC library that allows bespoke systems integrated by third parties to be consistent in all ocado warehouses.
• Create reliable systems, integrating the previously mentioned libraries, that allows to diagnose the status of the machinery and helps the warehouse engineers to effectively support it.
• Create tools that automate the manual deployment processes making the warehouse software roll-outs more efficient.
• Create a suite of automated tests in order to simulate the PLC behaviour before the software gets deployed into a real machine.
• Execute software integrations tests that allow to check the correct interface with the full Ocado software stack.
• Troubleshoot fieldbus networks using software and hardware diagnostic tools
• Liaise with the engineering team to report issues or improvements to the control of the MHE.
• Work with team lead and the project managers to review architecture and designs of 3rd party supplied systems.
• Attend design review meetings with vendors

About you (experience we seek)

• Extensive experience developing PLC software for industrial applications.
• Strong problem-solving credentials, technical leadership and ability to innovate.
• Experience with hardware commissioning.
• Understanding of electrical drawings and basic electrical fault finding skills.
• Experience working in a collaborative team focused environment.
• Siemens TIA portal
• Profinet commissioning and troubleshooting
• Profibus & ASI bus troubleshooting
• Inverter setup with Schneider SoMove or SEW Motion Studio
• Siemens safety PLC and experience with functional safety systems
