We are currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join a premier team of Plumbers at the 100th Civil Engineering Squadron, Royal Air Force (RAF) Mildenhall, United Kingdom.
What will be your primary role?
This position requires a skilled and independent journey-level plumber to manage the full life-cycle of plumbing projects, from initial planning and layout to final assembly and testing. You will install, repair, and modify a variety of systems and equipment related to water supply, sewage disposal, and gas/oil distribution. The role demands the ability to interpret blueprints and codes, troubleshoot complex plumbing issues, and utilize and maintain a wide range of tools and equipment, all while adhering to strict safety standards

Also known as the "Bloody Hundredth" conducts air refueling and combat support operations throughout the European and African area of responsibility. Directs reception and mobilizes for contingency operations. Base of support for four U.S. Air Force major command flying programs. Supports more than 8,300 military and civilian personnel, dependents, and retirees, to include U.S. Air Forces in Europe-United Kingdom, the 501st Combat Support Wing, 352nd Special Operations Wing, U.S. Army and five other partner units. Located at Royal Air Force Mildenhall in the United Kingdom, the 100 ARW is the only U.S. tanker wing assigned to Europe and Africa refueling U.S. and partner nation aircraft over a span of more than 20 million square miles employing the KC-135 Stratotanker aircraft. What are the Key Skills required for this role?
1. Knowledge of equipment assembly, installation, operation, and repair, to include routing, placement, slant, slope, and fall of systems; and of technical practices in order to plan, lay out, install, modify, troubleshoot, and repair various systems and equipment.
2. Knowledge of safety regulations, procedures, and practices.
3. Skill in installing, modifying, and repairing new and existing utility, supply, and disposal systems and equipment without more than normal supervision.
4. Skill in using and maintaining tools and equipment such as rules, levels, plumb bobs, dividers, various gauges and meters, various drain cleaning devices, hydrostatic pumps, and torches.
5. Skill in troubleshooting difficult or hard-to-detect leaks and operating problems.
6. Ability to use shop mathematics, take measurements, and lay out angles, arcs, and circles.
What are the conditions of employment for this role?
1. You will be required to handle and safeguard sensitive information in accordance with applicable US and UK laws, rules and regulations.
2. You may be required to travel by military and/or civilian aircraft and you may also be required to travel to the US or other country, in the performance of official duties or attend necessary training, this position may also be coded as mission essential.
3. You will be required to complete a 6-month probationary period.
4. Overtime may be required, and you may be assigned other duties not included in this position description, but that are appropriate to the grade and skill set of the incumbent.
5. You must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
6. Your hours of work will be 39 hours per week on a fixed schedule (Mon-Fri 0800-1630) where start & end times may be modified due to mission needs and in accordance with the organization's flexible working policies.
7. The work requires the employee to drive a motor vehicle. An appropriate, UK valid driver's license (category B) is required for the position.
8. As required, you may train and/or guide other personnel in performance of plumbing duties.
9. You may be required to participate in local disaster, accident, and contingency exercises. 10. You may be required to facilitate an on-call function over a 24-hour period covering 7 days a week as per the manning roster. For every calendar day of the year, one member of this roster will be designated as being on-call and the designee must be available on a standby basis. On-call allowance is activated only during the period of time an employee is performing the function of the on-call responsibilities. On-call allowance is not payable during periods of leave, sick absence, or when employee is not rostered.
11. You must successfully obtain and maintain any necessary occupational related training/certificates in accordance with US and UK industry standards, and complete all management directed training.
12. A pre-appointment physical/health screening is required. Appointment may be contingent upon passing a physical examination. The physical requirements include working from heights, in hard-to-reach places, standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing, and frequently lifting, carrying parts and equipment that weigh up to 40 pounds unassisted, and over 40 pounds with assistance.
13.The Local National Direct Hire (LNDH) Program does not participate in regular drug testing; however, positions covered by this document may be subject to drug testing upon reasonable suspicion of substance abuse, and safety mishap or accident testing.
14. You must obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance required for this position.
