General Overview



The Plumbing & Heating Engineer is responsible for carrying out high-quality installation, maintenance, servicing, and repair works to plumbing and heating systems in occupied and void properties. The role ensures that all works are delivered safely, efficiently, and in compliance with Gas Safe, water regulations, and company standards. The post holder plays a key part in maintaining resident satisfaction by delivering reliable, right-first-time repairs and installations while supporting the company's drive for safety, quality, and sustainability

What will you deliver?



Install, maintain, and repair domestic plumbing and heating systems, including boilers, radiators, pipework, and associated controls. Carry out diagnostic work and fault finding on heating systems to identify and implement effective solutions. Ensure all work complies with current building regulations, Gas Safe, and company quality standards. Work safely and responsibly in occupied homes, ensuring minimal disruption to residents. Record and complete all job details accurately using digital job management systems. Support and mentor apprentices or less experienced engineers as required. Liaise with supervisors, planners, and residents to ensure clear communication and timely completion of works. Conduct risk assessments, adhere to safe systems of work, and report any hazards or near misses promptly. Maintain company tools, equipment, and vehicles in good condition, reporting defects or loss immediately. Promote the company's values and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the service.

Key Activities / Responsibilities:



Working on void and tenanted properties Working alone and with other team members to provide a courteous and considerate service to clients and tenants Residential plumbing and heating fault finding Repairs, replacements and servicing Installation of toilets, baths, basins, cold water storage systems, etc. Removing existing bathroom suite, wall tiles and flooring. Altering pipework and installing level access trays. Wall panelling or tiling. Fitting of shower screens and doors. To ensure areas of work are left clean and tidy at the end of the day Working under instruction to meet the needs of the client Observe the highest levels of health and safety, and use appropriate safety equipment To perform any other duties as may be reasonably required

Essential Criteria



Be time served or appropriately qualified and be able to demonstrate relevant experience Previous experience working within construction industry Knowledge of domestic & commercial plumbing systems Evidence of delivering high levels of customer service. Valid CSR Card Full driving license

Desirable



Experience in the social housing sector Experience with tiling and level access wet rooms (training will be provided) Experience using a PDA smartphone mobile working device.

Skills/Competencies:



Basic IT skills Demonstrate reliability, flexibility and adaptability Have adequate literacy and numeracy skills Effectively manage time in order to meet deadlines Excellent team working skills
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: 16.00-25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week

Experience:

Plumbing: 1 year (preferred)
Licence/Certification:

CSR Card (preferred) Driving Licence (preferred) City & Guilds or equivalent (preferred)
Work Location: In person
