We are seeking an experienced Plumbing and Heating Engineer to join our team in a specialist role focused on air source heat pump installation, servicing, and maintenance. This position combines technical expertise in traditional plumbing and heating systems with advanced knowledge of renewable energy technologies. You will be responsible for the complete lifecycle management of air source heat pump systems, from initial installation and commissioning through to ongoing maintenance and fault diagnosis. Your work will directly contribute to helping customers transition to sustainable heating solutions while ensuring system reliability, efficiency, and compliance with all relevant regulations and standards. This is a hands-on role that requires both fieldwork and problem-solving skills in a rapidly growing sector.
Key Responsibilities:
Install air source heat pump systems in residential and commercial properties, including pipework, electrical connections, and integration with existing heating infrastructure
Commission and test newly installed systems to ensure optimal performance, efficiency, and safety compliance
Perform routine servicing and maintenance on air source heat pump units, including refrigerant checks, compressor inspections, and filter replacements
Diagnose and repair faults in heat pump systems, heating circuits, and associated plumbing components using diagnostic tools and technical knowledge
Conduct system performance assessments and provide customers with advice on efficiency improvements and best practices
Maintain detailed records of all installations, servicing work, and repairs for compliance and customer reference
Ensure all work complies with Building Regulations, Gas Safety Regulations, and manufacturer specifications
Liaise with customers to understand their heating requirements and provide clear explanations of system operation and maintenance needs
Keep up to date with evolving heat pump technologies, industry standards, and best practices through continuous professional development
Deal with General Plumbing and heating work.
Candidate Profile
We are looking for candidates who bring a strong foundation in plumbing and heating engineering combined with proven experience in air source heat pump installation, servicing, and maintenance as well as general plumbing and heating tasks. You should be a technically competent professional with a genuine interest in renewable energy technologies and a commitment to delivering high-quality work. We value engineers who are reliable, safety-conscious, and capable of working both independently and as part of a team. The ideal candidate will combine practical hands-on skills with good communication abilities and a customer-focused mindset.
Experience & Expertise Required:
Proven experience in plumbing and heating engineering with a minimum of 3-5 years in the field
Demonstrable experience installing, servicing, and maintaining air source heat pump systems
Knowledge of heating system design, pipework installation, and integration with heat pumps
Competence in using diagnostic and testing equipment for heat pump systems
Understanding of refrigerant handling and relevant environmental regulations
Familiarity with Building Regulations, Gas Safety Regulations, and industry standards
Valid driving licence and willingness to travel to customer sites
