Technician Trainer - Plumbing

to support and inspire learners within our Technical & Modern Construction Skills faculty. If you're passionate about the plumbing trade, enjoy working hands-on, and want to help develop the skills of future professionals, this is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference.

About the Role



As a Technician Trainer, you will play a key part in delivering high-quality training and practical support to learners at all levels. You'll work closely with lecturing staff, guiding students through their practical activities, developing their confidence, and ensuring a safe, well-organised workshop environment.

This role is ideal for an experienced plumber who enjoys sharing knowledge--even if you haven't taught before. Full training and development (including teaching and Health & Safety qualifications) is available for the right candidate.

What You'll Be Doing



Providing practical training, coaching and underpinning knowledge to learners on plumbing programmes. Assessing student competence and supporting progress through tutorials, workshops and practical observations. Supervising students in the workshop, ensuring safe and effective learning at all times. Maintaining tools, equipment and stock levels, organising stores, and undertaking minor repairs where needed. Supporting the delivery of accredited programmes and assisting lecturing staff during practical sessions. Keeping workshop spaces clean, safe and well organised, and completing relevant administration. Participating in risk assessments, ensuring compliance with Health & Safety (including COSHH). Supporting learners and colleagues with specialist equipment and First Aid (training provided). Contributing positively to team culture, planning processes, and college events such as open evenings.

What We're Looking ForEssential



Level 2 qualification in a relevant plumbing discipline GCSE English & Maths (Grade C/4 or above) or equivalent Experience working in the plumbing industry Strong communication skills and confidence supporting young people Excellent organisation, record-keeping and problem-solving skills Commitment to safeguarding, equality and inclusive learning Ability to work flexibly, independently and as part of a team Good IT skills (Word, Excel, Outlook)

Desirable



Level 3 plumbing qualification Experience teaching, training or mentoring others Experience supervising students or apprentices Minor maintenance experience Good plumbing practical skills
If you don't yet have teaching, First Aid or Health & Safety qualifications -- don't worry. We will support you to achieve these.
