An exciting opportunity for a PMO (Portfolio Management Office) Manager to work within the Agile Management Office. You will be working in a team with cross-functional expertise and consultancy skillsets to deliver an exceptional experience to our people. The successful candidate, in conjunction with the HR Portfolio Delivery Lead, will be responsible for the ongoing operation and continuous improvement of our HR PMO, the Agile Management Office. You will have the opportunity to shape and influence the refinement and enhancement of robust portfolio management processes across all of our strategic people and change projects; spanning all HR COEs including Reward, Resourcing, Learning & Talent, and Inclusion & Wellbeing. Working closely with the HR Portfolio Delivery Lead, you will foster a culture of ownership and operational excellence, maintaining efficient practices and providing supporting services that are critical to a successful portfolio office.


The successful applicant will have informed opinions on portfolio governance and effective delivery methodologies, be able to articulate ideas clearly, and champion continuous improvement in delivery effectiveness. You will generate and nurture strong relationships with HR and other cross-business line teams, enabling efficient execution and clear communication.


Key responsibilities will include:

Portfolio Governance & Control: Ensure adherence to established governance requirements, standards, and methodologies across the HR Portfolio, including regular quality checking of project updates. Oversee and ensure compliance with change control process to manage variations to scope (time, cost, resource) and change requests to support and maintain transparency and control. Project Oversight & Risk Management: Work closely with project leads to understand individual project progress, challenges, and interdependencies. Proactively monitor and manage portfolio-level risks and issues, escalating critical items to the HR Portfolio Delivery Lead and relevant stakeholders as required. Resource management: the ability to acquire and deploy internal and external resources to projects using time-based planning with an emphasis on activities and resource. Integrated planning: the ability to take forward the definition of outputs into detailed planning, incorporating multiple HR teams delivery into an integrated HR plan. Cross-functional Stakeholder Collaboration: Work collaboratively with key cross-functional stakeholders (e.g., ITS, HR Services, Procurement, Comms) to understand their needs, identify and manage interdependencies, assess resource capacity, and proactively address issues and risks to support effective portfolio delivery. Reporting & Performance Monitoring: Manage and deliver comprehensive reporting requirements for the HR Portfolio, providing timely and accurate insights to HR leadership. This includes monitoring key performance indicators, milestone slippage, and overall portfolio health. Roadmap Management: Support the management and communication of the HR Portfolio Roadmap, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and clear visibility of upcoming initiatives. Provide insights to inform decision-making on prioritisation, timings and resource planning across the portfolio Tooling & Enablement: Control and optimise the HR Portfolio utilising monday.com. This includes monitoring progress, usage, and providing upskilling and support to project teams to maximise the tool's effectiveness. Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvements and enhancements to how the HR Portfolio is managed, identifying opportunities to refine processes, tools, and overall delivery efficiency.

Adaptive Delivery: Champion an adaptive and responsive approach to portfolio management, ensuring processes can flex to meet evolving business needs and environmental changes.

Essential



A highly motivated and results-oriented professional with a proactive, action-oriented mindset, capable of delivering under pressure and adapting effectively to an ever-changing environment. Proven experience in a PMO Manager or similar role, with a strong understanding of project, programme, and portfolio management principles. Demonstrable experience in managing reporting requirements, risk/issue management, and governance adherence within a portfolio context. Experience in driving continuous improvement and best practices in portfolio management, with a pragmatic ability to tailor governance to the firm's current maturity and needs, ensuring solutions are flexible and avoid unnecessary complexity Proactively build and maintain strong relationships with senior business stakeholders and cross-functional teams. Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex information clearly and concisely. Detailed understanding and proven experience of working with effective delivery processes, tools, and methodologies. Experience with portfolio management tools such as monday.com (or similar, e.g., JIRA, Microsoft Project, Smartsheet, Confluence). Team player and collaborator with a focus on team dynamics that foster unity
