The post holder will be an important member of the Podiatry Community Team. They will support the Clinicians ensuring that the delivery of Podiatric care to patients runs as smoothly and efficiently as possible, ensuring the patient experience is as successful as it could be across Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board (CTMUHB). The duties and responsibilities of the role will reflect the competency level of the Health Care Support Worker Framework (Wales).
The post holder will undertake duties and tasks as delegated by HCPC Registered Podiatrists.
The post holder will assist with specified clinical duties and tasks, including supporting with nail surgery procedures, under the direction of the Podiatrists, ensuring provision of an efficient, caring and patient focused service.
The post holder may be required to occasionally work on their own and be required to organise own work activities as directed by Registered Staff. The post holder will support clinicians in a variety of primary and secondary care settings including the in-reach service to the prison.
The post holder will deal with routine enquiries and queries from patients, Healthcare Professionals and others involved with the care of patients, both face-to-face and via telephone.
The role will involve some administration duties.
Respond appropriately to patient queries, often dealing with anxious distressed patients face-to-face or by telephone, taking messages if required and passing to Clinicians and/or Senior Team in a timely manner.
Apply a patient partnership approach, building and maintaining good relationships with clinical and non-clinical staff across the Health Board and other Organisations.
Assist Community Podiatrists in undertaking minor surgery procedures in Hospital and Domiciliary environments. This involves preparing the clinical area.
Under the direction of the Podiatrist, undertake basic podiatric care such as dressing removal or application of dressings.
Maintain accurate and detailed clinical records and statistical information as required by the Department and Health Board, in accordance with legislation.
Manage patient appointments using the electronic schedule system i.e. WPAS Myrddin and arrange hospital transport as necessary. This may require providing reassurance and tact to patients concerning their appointments, and the post holder may experience barriers to communication and understanding e.g. elderly patients, hard of hearing, English not first language.
Safeguard the welfare and safety of patients, self and colleagues according to the Health and Safety Policy of the Health Board, ensuring that all untoward incidents and near misses are reported.
