Post Title: Poling Surveyor



Location/ Work Base Newtown and Surrounding Region

Accountable to: Operations Supervisor



Accountable for: Team Leaders (if required)



Main Purpose of Post:



To undertake the following activities within the company (

but not restricted to):

All aspects of pole surveying.

Occasionally supervise the installation of various poling related activities.

Occasionally conducting asset assurance activities such as copper jointing.

Reporting to Senior Surveyor & other Line Managers.

Liaising with and conforming to Poling Manager's requirements.

Communicating with Openreach Customers.

Communicating with Openreach Representatives.

Liaising and meeting Local Authority representatives.

Liaising and occasionally instructing Team Leaders or other operational staff.

Raising & addressing potential work stack issues.

Temporary Copper Jointing activities.

Responding to reactive works.

Principal Responsibilities:



To undertake the operational activities outlined below to the required standards as directed by the Poling Manager and comply with Health & Safety and Environmental procedures.

To lead, participate and supervise the operational activities outlined above to the required standards and to comply with Health & Safety and Environmental procedures.

To supervise the Poling Operatives and carry out any other duties as required to meet business needs, subject to appropriate training.

Surveying 3rd party utility infrastructure for the placement of Telecoms equipment in an external environment or installation.

Taking GPS measurements, digital images as appropriate, recording plant suitability and identifying risks.

Owning, executing, and delivering survey requirements within a geographic region.

Highlight and escalate major variances to the nominated desk-based planner.

Dealing with amendments to allocated information.

Ensure accurate completion of all survey submissions and work is completed on time with accuracy.

Carry out any other duties (within or outside working hours) as and when required, to meet business needs subject to appropriate training and competency.

PERSON SPECIFICATION



Attributes / Experience



Minimum 2 years' experience in pole installations within the electricity or communications sector.

Previous operational experience in surveying 3rd party utility infrastructure for the placement of Telecoms equipment essential.

Asset assarance advantages.

Skilled in the use of ICT including Microsoft Office software, internet and email.

Experience of managing other operational staff would be considered extremely advantageous.

Ability to work under pressure and keep calm - essential.

Good spoken and written communication skills - essential.

Knowledge



Good Microsoft Office knowledge especially Excel and Word.

Strong understanding of management systems and processes.

Operational knowledge of the telecommunications sector.

Qualifications & Training



Full Driving License - essential.

CSCS - Card

Streetworks - Unit LA, O1, O2, O3 & O4

IPAF 1(b) - desirable.

S013 - Network Regulations Accreditations for Surveyors - desirable.

S017 - Asset Assurance for Pole Surveying - desirable.

SA001 - Overhead Safety

E001 -Dropwire & Overhead Techniques.

F020 - U/G D-side Jointing, Closures & Quality

SA002 - Underground Safety

Abrasive wheels & Manual Handling.

Any additional hours during a normal working week after your first 8 hours of work each day will be paid at Time plus .

. An additional 5-days holiday allowance will be granted upon 1 year anniversary of service and an additional 2-day holiday allowance will be granted on reaching 5 years continuous service.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: 14.50-16.00 per hour
