ASH Wales is the leading charity working to create a Smokefree Wales by 2030. At this pivotal moment, as landmark legislation moves forward, we're looking for a Policy and Media Officer to help shape public debate and influence policy across Wales.
You'll lead our policy and media work, making sure ASH Wales remains a trusted, evidence-based voice on tobacco and vaping control. From briefing MSs and responding to consultations to managing press enquiries and supporting campaigns, you'll be at the heart of our mission to tackle smoking and its impact on health, communities, and inequalities.
What you'll do:
Develop and deliver ASH Wales' media and public affairs programme.
Draft consultation responses, policy briefings, and position statements.
Build relationships with decision-makers, health bodies, and the media.
Lead Secretariat work for the Wales Tobacco Control Alliance and Cross Party Group.
Monitor emerging policy issues and shape ASH Wales' response.
Represent ASH Wales at events, meetings, and in the media.
What you'll need:
Experience in media, policy, or public affairs.
Strong writing and communication skills.
Understanding of public health issues (tobacco control knowledge a bonus).
Confidence in building relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
Ability to work flexibly in a small, fast-moving charity environment.
