Pembroke College, Cambridge is seeking to appoint a Porter to join our friendly team in the Porters' Lodge.
The Porters' Lodge is the central hub for the College community and is staffed 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year.
The team consists of 1 Head Porter, 1 Deputy Head Porter, 2 Senior Porters and 10 Duty Porters.
Some of the Porters' role is ensuring the safety and security of the College premises; responding to fire alarms; being the first point of contact for all emergencies; administering first aid and providing mental health first aid support.
First impressions count, and the Porters' Lodge is the first experience visitors/guests/students/staff have to the College and the team aim to deliver a professional and efficient service at all times.
As a Porter you would be expected to provide a high standard of communication, appearance and professionalism as part of this small team within Pembroke College.
The Porters' team work alongside the Head Porter and the Deputy Head Porter to maintain high levels of consistent quality service to Fellows, students, staff and members of the public.
The successful applicant must be customer-focused at all times and have excellent communication skills.
The appointment is for a full-time permanent post, the shift pattern includes day, evening and night shifts. Weekends and Bank Holidays are included in the shift pattern.
The shift pattern is rotational over 10 weeks with 3 periods of the pattern, which consist of 6 work days 2 ET, 2 LT, 2 NT followed by 4 Rests days (RD):
Early Turn (ET) 07:00 - 15:00
Late Turn: (LT) 13:00 - 21:30
Night Turn (NT) 21:30 - 07:00
