The Centre for Advanced Spatial Analysis is offering a range of teaching opportunities for postgraduate research students to assist on its Masters' level courses as Post Graduate Teaching Assistants. Both full and part time students are eligible to apply. Please see the , at the bottom of this page, for full details. Students may apply to assist on any of the modules, and only one application is required. Please specify which module/s you are applying for when completing application form.
About the role
------------------
Post holders can be expected to take on some or all of the following duties: o Teaching assistance through the facilitation of seminars and/or workshops; o Class preparation and meeting with lecturers/module organisers; o After-class contact time with students, including time-tabled office hours; o Marking students' work; o Giving feedback to students. Each post is unique and the duties will vary depending on arrangements of teaching in each module. Please note that PGTA roles are dependent on student numbers and these are to be confirmed for individual modules. In the event of student numbers being lower than expected, the work may be not required or reduced. PGTAs will be notified if work is withdrawn on this basis. Please note that this is an internal opportunity for UCL students. About you

You must be registered as a PhD student at the start of the academic year 2025/2026 to be eligible to apply. Any PGR student wishing to undertake teaching or assessing responsibilities at UCL must have attended the Arena One: Gateway workshop. You must have the right to work in the UK. Other requirements are: o Working towards a postgraduate research degree (PhD/EngD). o A desire to gain teaching experience in a built environment discipline. o Disciplinary knowledge and, if applicable, specialist skills of the subject area of the programme unit/module. o Ability to communicate clearly, both orally and in writing, with students and staff. o Excellent organisational and time-management skills. o Ability to be flexible in terms of research workload and other commitments. o Ability to work independently for short periods and as part of a team, recognising when advice / input needs to be sought. o Available for the three hour mandatory UCL Arena One Gateway Workshop, if not previously attended. o Commitment to UCL's policy of equal opportunities and the ability to work harmoniously with colleagues and students of all cultures and backgrounds. o The ability to meet deadlines.

The appointments will be made on UCL's salary structure at grade 6. PGTAs will be paid for training, preparation time, attending lectures and meetings, office hours and marking. The estimated total teaching hours across each module is listed in the , at the bottom of this page. Payments will be spread evenly for the duration of each module. Hours of work vary across modules.
