We are looking for a PhD students to act as Teaching Assistants for an exciting new portfolio of innovative Taught Postgraduate programmes and courses delivered by Edinburgh Futures Institute.
Please note this post is available ONLY for current University of Edinburgh PhD students. We encourage applications from PhD students within their prescribed period of study.
The Opportunity:
Edinburgh Futures Institute (EFI) has developed an ambitious and inventive PGT portfolio. It is highly interdisciplinary, forging new territory in student flexibility through a combination of online and offline teaching via an innovative delivery model that we call 'fusion' teaching, and a timetabling model based largely on 2-day intensive blocks of teaching. The portfolio aims to educate students for complex futures in which computational data, critical understanding and creative methods are essential to employability and the ability to take a confident place in the world.

Your skills and attributes for success:
The successful candidates should be able to demonstrate the skill-set required to facilitate the EFI fusion teaching model (relevant training will be provided). This may include:
Supporting the Course Organiser with initial classroom configuration / setup.
Guiding and moderating online / in-class discussions on learning technology platforms by welcoming students, managing breakout sessions, monitoring student questions, and solving basic technical issues, etc.
Supporting the administration of classes including the support of student tutorials, creating events on learning technology platforms, and starting/stopping session recordings.
Furthermore, our ideal candidates will have sufficient understanding of the topics under discussion in the courses and programmes that they are interested in working on, along with the relevant technical knowledge and skills for those courses and programmes.
