The Bartlett School of Environment, Energy and Resources (BSEER) is recruiting a cohort of Postgraduate Teaching Assistants (PGTAs) to support education across the department starting from the next academic year.
The school is set within The Bartlett Faculty, which has been ranked #1 in the world for the third year in a row in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2025 (Architecture and Built Environment), and remains #1 in the UK for the eleventh year running.
We are comprised of four world-class institutes, providing expert knowledge, collaborative research, and teaching across UCL Energy Institute, UCL Institute for Environmental Design and Engineering, UCL Institute for Sustainable Heritage, and UCL Institute for Sustainable Resources. For further information about the School, please visit: The Bartlett School of Environment, Energy and Resources.
About the role
------------------
The purpose of this role is to support and work with the academic leads on small group teaching and learning across our programmes.
PGTAs will be given training and ongoing support to assist them with their main duties, which include:
tutorial class teaching
regular meetings with the module lead/lecturers
provision of feedback to students
provision of weekly office hours
attendance reporting
coursework assessment
examination marking
How to apply
----------------
You must be registered as a PhD student, either full or part time, at the start of the academic year 2025/2026 to be eligible to apply.
A document outlining all available vacancies is attached; as part of your application, you will be asked to specify which roles you would like to be considered for.
If you have any queries about the role or about the application process, or, if you need any reasonable adjustments to assist you in your application, please contact the BSEER HR Team at bseer-recruitment@ucl.ac.uk.
Due to uncertainty around total student numbers, we are taking a conservative approach to the initial hours offered. However, there may be opportunities for additional work once student numbers are confirmed in mid to late October.
Please note this is primarily intended as an internal opportunity - only if there is no suitable PhD student at UCL identified would external applications from students at other universities be accepted and considered.

Our commitment to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion
As London's Global University, we know diversity fosters creativity and innovation, and we want our community to represent the diversity of the world's talent. We are committed to equality of opportunity, to being fair and inclusive, and to being a place where we all belong. We therefore particularly encourage applications from candidates who are likely to be underrepresented in UCL's workforce. These include people from ethnic minority backgrounds; disabled people; LGBTQI+ people; and for our Grade 9 and 10 roles, women. Our department holds an Athena SWAN Silver award in recognition of our commitment and demonstrable impact in advancing gender equality.
In the event we receive a high number of applications, we may close the vacancy ahead of the published closing date. As a minimum we will keep all adverts open for 2 weeks. Early application submission is therefore recommended.
