More about your role
The New Malden Orchestra welcome applications for the position of Music Director/Orchestra Conductor to take on the role from September 2020. The New Malden Orchestra is part of the Malden Centre Adult Education Department, a part of Places for People Leisure: the conductor will report to the Adult Education Manager. The Malden Orchestra is currently composed of 25 members, all amateur players of different skills.
The orchestra runs from September to July during school terms. You will plan the repertoire for weekly rehearsal during school term, prepare suitable parts for all current players and arrange the rehearsal room in a suitable way for the orchestra.
Weekly rehearsals are held on Thursdays from 10am to 12am.

More about you
You will be a qualified and competent musician and conductor, with experience in conducting amateur players. The ability to manage players of different levels of technical and musical skills, as well as able to interact with a wide range of people. Competence with some music-writing software will be paramount. Professionalism, punctuality, reliability, commitment, good communication and organisation skills, are indispensable attributes for the position.
