Overview


We are a growing Asian-style ceramic studio located in Hackney Wick, and we are currently seeking passionate wheel-throwing instructors to join our team. We offer a creative, relaxed, and welcoming work environment that fosters artistic growth and collaboration.

We are looking for part-time instructors to lead our wheel-throwing or hand building course. The ideal candidate will possess experience in ceramics, have a good understanding of Asian ceramic culture and techniques, and be capable of independently managing 2.5-hour classes for up to 6 students. If you have knowledge of Asian ceramics and a passion for sharing your expertise, we would love to hear from you!

Candidates should be well-versed in various Asian pottery techniques and have a solid understanding of Asian ceramic culture.

Key Activities and Responsibilities



?Conduct a 6-8 week beginner/intermediate wheel-throwing course, covering skills such as centring, throwing bowls, cups, attaching handles, and crafting small vases, teapots etc.

? Or conduct a 6-8 week beginner/intermediate hand-building course, covering skills such as pinch, slab making, coil, attaching handles, and crafting small vases etc.

?Well-versed in Asian pottery techniques.

?Lead 2h Taster workshops.

?To plan, teach and evaluate courses that meet the learning needs of students.

? Teach in a flexible and creative way that reflects the advertised course outline.

? Provide a course outline, schemes of work, lesson plans and individual project briefs as required.

? Design learning materials inspired by ceramic traditions to engage and support students from different backgrounds.

? Support students' learning by offering guidance and feedback throughout the class.

? Encourage students to explore further courses and develop their practice.

?Help shape and refine classes to keep them inspiring and true to the studio's vision.

? Any other duties as appropriate to the post.

Job Requirements



Proficient in wheel-throwing (counter-clockwise), hand building, with at least 3 years of experience. Good communication and adaptability skills. Fluent in spoken English, with the ability to teach in English. Capable of planning and organising class content effectively. Patient, detail-oriented, and dedicated to teaching. Prior teaching experience is preferred. Support students' learning by offering guidance and feedback throughout the class. Encourage students to explore further courses and develop their practice. Help shape and refine classes to keep them inspiring and true to the studio's vision. A positive attitude and a genuine willingness to be part of our team.
Job Type: Part-time

Pay: 15.00-18.00 per hour

Expected hours: No more than 8 per week
