We are seeking to appoint a committed, enthusiastic professional to teach the crafts and skills of pottery making to groups of students of mixed abilities. Applicants must have experience of working with learners with learning difficulties and/ or learning disabilities.
You will be working with a small group of students, delivering accredited qualifications. You will need a willingness to work outdoors in all weathers, as well as working with hand-tools and having experience working with other related machinery (in-house training/guidance can be provided).
The key duties in this role will include:
To plan and deliver pottery sessions and teach the students how to produce practical and meaningful items from the materials at source (clay) into community orientated projects and items
Delivering teaching and training with a therapeutic and supportive approach, wherever possible linking students learning activities through a methodology of the Trust, Practical Skills Therapeutic Education
Ensuring students engage in learning and achieve through careful planning of the structure, methodology and delivery of the learning experience.
To be a part of ongoing assessment of students learning needs and to make reasonable adjustments as required, minimising barriers to learning and achievement
To familiarise with student background information, profile and risk assessment wherever reasonably possible
You will be expected to attend training sessions as required by the Trust, which may be outside of your usual working hours
To undertake this position successfully you will have:
Experience of working with clay whilst having the ability to produce high items that the children and young people can use.
A teaching qualification is desirable but not essential. If not held the successful candidate must be willing to work towards

You must be able to instill enthusiasm and enjoyment into the learning process in such a way that can lead to increased self-esteem and enhanced engagement in learning
