Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Poultry Worker to join our team on our Free Range Egg Farm.

This role involves hands-on animal care, maintenance of poultry facilities, and supporting operational tasks to ensure the health and wellbeing of the poultry stock. The successful candidate will be physically fit, reliable, and eager to contribute to efficient farm operations. Prior experience in animal care, or equipment maintenance is advantageous but not essential, as training will be provided.

Accomodation is provided any you will need to live on site. We will cover the electiricty, water and council tax bills.

Duties

Walking around the chickens multiple times per day - Assisting with the daily care and feeding of poultry, ensuring animals are healthy and comfortable Daily collecting and grading of the eggs using state of the art equipment - around 3 to 4 hours every day. There are lots of mechanical features to the egg collection process - Performing routine maintenance and minor repairs on farm equipment using hand tools and power tools Conduct regular general cleaning and sanitation of poultry houses and equipment to uphold hygiene standards Monitor animal behaviour for signs of illness or distress and report any concerns promptly Assist with the installation, inspection, and repair of equipment as needed Use basic maths skills to record data related to feed quantities, water usage, and animal counts Handle heavy lifting tasks such as moving baskets of eggs or equipment components safely and efficiently

Experience

Previous experience with poultry is desirable but not mandatory; training will be provided for all duties Knowledge of mechanical repairs, or maintenance work is a plus Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, and basic equipment repair techniques is advantageous Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and work in physically demanding environments Basic understanding of animal welfare principles and farm hygiene practices Practical experience with equipment maintenance can be beneficial but is not essential

This role may suit a husband and wife team with the wife assisting the husband with egg collections on an hourly rate or vice versa.
