PR & Communications Manager

Fixed-term contract to 1 July 2026 4 days a week up to 33k (FTE 41,672)

We are looking for an exceptional PR & Communications Manager to help propel our organisational profile to a national platform.

As our PR & Communications Manager, you will be responsible for growing our external facing profile through media engagement, strategising and delivering marketing and communications campaigns and curating thought leadership through compelling written narrative. You will be an experienced, effective communicator and with a strong media network. You will be pivotal in maintaining the 'voice' of Intelligent Health and taking findings from our programmes - including Roots Workplace Health Academy and our community development tool Beat the Street. You will act as a short-form storyteller to evidence the power of enabling people to become more engaged and active in their local area.

We are looking for an experienced PR & Communications Manager, who is adept at thinking strategically about communications campaigns, can work to tight deadlines, be adaptable and has the ability to condense information into multiple formats. An eye for a good story, you will have the initiative to pivot across the organisation's missions to know how best to platform emerging insight across the Intelligent Health brand. Your duties and responsibilities:



Strategy development: plan and deliver on a calendar of campaigns, priority stories and content to promote Intelligent Health and its programmes. Agency management: lead relationship management with the agency delivering B2B marketing campaigns for Roots Health Academy, Intelligent Health's workplace resilience programme. Thought leadership: draft and deliver curated content across digital, print and social media to support the growth of Intelligent Health's public profile. Craft strong, concise narratives across multiple platforms highlighting community outcomes, health benefits and innovation. Press management: manage media relations, including journalist outreach, media monitoring and preparing briefings for interviews. Executive support: draft speeches, quotes, social media, blog posts and editorials in the tone of the CEO (and Directors) to amplify Intelligent Health's vision and influence. Support SLT (and wider team) in raising their professional profile through media opportunities, conferences and publications. Platforming insight: translate data from Beat the Street Insights, Roots Health Academy, and Physical Activity Clinical Champions into media friendly content and stakeholder reports. External communications: curate content for Intelligent Health's quarterly partner newsletter, including sourcing content across programmes, writing engaging updates, and coordinating distribution to key stakeholders. Digital media: maintain Intelligent Health's website, LinkedIn and social media profiles

Education & skills



Degree educated, preferably in the Journalism, Marketing or Communications fields. Experienced public relations and communications manager, with proven skill in engaging the media to promote the work of a small to medium sized organisation, with at least five years' experience in a PR and/or communications role Highly literate with excellent PR experience, including analytical reporting. Evidenced ideation and delivery of successful communications campaigns, building and maintaining a profile via national media through news coverage, editorials, blogging etc. Outstanding ability to build a compelling narrative, see and tell the story with exceptional copywriting skills. An excellent communicator, able to determine where our messaging will resonate best, with a high-quality level of written communications Strong news sense and evidence of existing relationships with journalists, which can be utilised to enhance influence, reputation and profile nationally. Ideally, these relationships will be from one of the following sectors: sport and physical activity, natural environment, transport, education, public health or NHS. Proactive self-starter with ability to work to tight and shifting deadlines
