Pr Journalist

Liverpool, ENG, GB, United Kingdom

Job Description

Billion Media is a digital marketing company based in Liverpool. We specialise in Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) and have an interest in the legal sector, though we offer our services to a wide range of industries.

We've developed a great reputation for conducting thorough and quality investigative journalistic research which has helped us forge close ties with national and regional newspapers.

We're seeking a talented and ambitious person with

experience in journalism

to join our team.

The Job

The role involves conducting in-depth research and investigations on various topics relating to our clients' websites. Much of this research involves Freedom of Information requests, interviews and surveys.

On a day-to-day basis, you will work with others in the team to identify potential campaign ideas. You will then conduct research, compile and analyse the results, and present them to the media in the form of press releases, pitches and phone calls.

With us being an SEO agency, one of our main aims of promoting these stories is to acquire links to our websites and articles. Part of the role will involve liaising with journalists and editors to get these links included.

Why Apply For This Job?

There are two key benefits to the role:

You get to create news.

Research pieces from the ground up and pitch them to national and regional newspapers

The bonus scheme can be richly rewarding.

For every backlink you obtain from a media organisation to our client's websites, you get a bonus. This bonus is unlimited and is paid at the end of each month. Bonuses often exceed 1,000 a month.

Must Haves For The Role

Our ideal candidate would have:

A minimum of 6 months of experience in a newsroom, PR consultancy or investigating stories with FOIs

A degree in journalism or an NTCJ qualification

Experience drafting and sending our press releases

Desirable Skills

Other skills we're looking for include:

Experience

analysing raw data to identify trends or newsworthy angles

Attention to detail

is also an important skill needed for this role.

Conducting research

also forms a huge part of this role. Experience in research and scrutinising data sources is therefore essential. We would like you to demonstrate initiative and to devise and propose your own campaign strategies.

Organisation is also vital.

You will be responsible for your workload and will, once training is completed, be assigned a monthly target, which is tied into a bonus scheme. We pride ourselves on our friendly, sociable and laid back atmosphere, so

strong interpersonal and communication skills

are essential. We're a close-knit team that supports each other in every aspect of our jobs. We seek people who are willing to go above and beyond for their colleagues.

The Benefits

The starting salary is up to 40,000 and above, depending on experience and inclusive of our standard average bonus. You'll be entitled to 28 days of annual leave per year, including bank holidays. This increases each year you are employed.

There is an unlimited bonus scheme in place. Our journalists take home over 1,000 per month on average.

We also offer flexitime and some working-from-home entitlements, though this role is predominantly office-based.

Our offices are located in Liverpool Innovation Park, which has great transport links, its own cafe, leisure facilities and is just a few minutes walk from the brand new Liverpool Shopping Park.

To Apply

Please send a cover letter, along with your CV, addressed to Richie. The successful applicant will be asked to complete a short task followed by an interview at our offices.
