We're looking for an experienced practice accountant to join our team -- someone who can deliver excellent client service, improve processes, and play a key part in building client relationships.

The Role

This is a hands-on accountancy role with responsibility for managing a varied client portfolio. You'll support business owners and individuals by preparing accounts, handling tax compliance, and offering practical commercial advice. This isn't number-crunching in isolation -- you'll be a key part of helping clients understand their numbers and make informed decisions.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare year-end accounts, management accounts and statutory accounts for a range of SME clients. Lead on personal and corporate tax compliance, including self-assessment and CT returns. Prepare and review VAT returns and ensure compliance with relevant regulations. Act as the primary point of contact for clients, providing practical, commercially grounded financial advice and support. Support junior team members -- mentoring, reviewing work and helping improve standards. Contribute to process improvements, systems adoption and better ways of working. Spot issues and recommend solutions -- whether around tax planning, cashflow, business performance or compliance.

You Are

Qualified (ACCA/ACA) or substantially qualified with strong practice experience. Confident managing a portfolio of SME clients with minimal supervision. Strong technically (accounts, tax, VAT) and capable of explaining complex issues in plain English. Comfortable with accounting software (Xero/Sage etc.) and happy to champion practical process enhancements. Commercially minded -- you think beyond compliance to the impact on clients' businesses.
