Job Description

The Shrubberies Medical Centre is looking for a highly enthusiastic and motivated Practice Manager with excellent leadership and interpersonal skills to join the team.
The Practice Manager is pivotal to the organisation and will be expected to lead and ensure the practice operates effectively.
The successful candidate will be confident in managing staff and take overall responsibility for the day to day running of the practice with the support of the Partners and Administrative team
Applicants should have the vision and drive to move the practice forward and adapt to NHS targets and changes within a friendly and supportive working environment. Previous primary care management experience is not essential for this role; however, individuals without previous primary care experience will have to demonstrate transferable knowledge and skills.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate should have strong management skills and experience of project management, public relations, strategic planning and IT. It is essential that they have previous experience of managing multi-disciplinary teams, financial accounting including forecasting budgets, maximising income and cash flow with an understanding of human resources (HR).
About us
The surgery is well established, located in leafy, suburban, North East London and provides care to just under 8500 patients.
The appointed Practice Manager, will be supported by an excellent long serving administrative team already in place. We are a highly motivated, friendly team of clinicians and admin staff serving a patient population of nearly 8500 patients.

Overall job purpose
To manage and ensure the co-ordination of all aspects of the day-to-day business of the practice, supporting, motivating and managing the practice team, facilitating effective working that delivers high quality outcomes, optimising efficiency and financial performance while ensuring the practice fulfils its short to medium-term plans and has achievable long-term strategies to work towards.
Management of human resources:
Ensure that the practice is staffed and resourced within the budget by people with appropriate skills, experience and commitment to provide the professional, technical, administrative and interpersonal skills and expertise needed.
Policy and planning:
Regularly review the organisation and developments within and outside the practice which will impact directly or indirectly. This includes involvement in local and national agencies which formulate and influence primary health care strategy.
Management of financial resources:
Responsible to the partners for the effective use of practice finances.
Working with the practice accountant in planning effective budgetary control, ensuring cost efficiencies and maximisation of profitability.
Management of IT systems:
Ensure the effective management of information within the practice and with outside agencies.
Management of partnership issues:
Provide support to the partners and the partnership to ensure excellent team-working and a sound legal framework.
Management of clinical performance:
Ensure the practice achieves business success through high quality healthcare planning, general health and preventive medicine provision, the management of long-term conditions and delivery and full achievement against all required targets and activity levels for each of the established areas for clinical performance.
Management of premises, equipment and stock:
Ensure the practice in making full and effective use of our current premises, together with our equipment and stock.
Care Quality Commission:
Advise the partners on action needed to maintain compliance with CQC requirements.
Patient services:
Maintain and develop services which best serve the needs of our patient population using the appropriate and safe staff skill mix and provide the best possible patient experience throughout.
Personal development:
Manage your own time effectively. Plan and meet personal and practice targets. Ensure your own personal development through reflection and feedback from partners and colleagues.
