Hours are 21 hours per week working three days per week. You will also need to do holiday and sickness cover which will raise the hours you normally do. The Nurse Manager will provide the details for all cover and the expected hours of work. You will be predominantly based at Tutbury but as we are a dual site there will be for business reasons the requirement to work at either site.

General description of the post To work as a member of the Practice Nursing Team and provide appropriate nursing care to the patients of the Dove River Practice. Treatment Room Duties : To undertake nursing duties as directed by Senior Practice Nurse and Doctors. To be available as a resource for self-referral by patients with all types of wounds and minor ailments.
To assess and either treat or refer such patients. Wound care, wound dressings, removal of sutures/clips Administer injections/vaccines as required To perform tests such as ECG's, urinalysis To perform venepuncture, Cytology trained and be responsible for safe collection and transportation of specimens. To carry out Health Checks on patients as required. Childhood Immunisations as per guidelines.
Travel health and travel vaccine competent. Assist with minor surgery, Coil and Implant fits. Chronic disease monitoring and advice. Must be able to carryout COPD and Asthma reviews.
To maintain clear and contemporaneous records. EMIS trained. To record patient data electronically on EMIS accurately to satisfy GMS2, QOF and IIF requirements for activity and financial reporting. To adhere to all aspects of Health and Safety with particular attention to infection control.
To undertake appropriate administrative duties during the absence of the Senior Practice Nurse. Any other adhoc duties as and when required Professional Development: To work collaboratively with other members of the Primary Heatlh Care Team and contribute to the development of nursing services within each practice. To maintain professional development by attending courses and study days as arranged with the general practitioners. To participate in research within the practice.
The post holder must be in possession of a current UKCC PIN and maintain current membership of a professional organisation, e.g. RCN.
