Job Summary The General Practice Nurse is responsible for delivering high-quality nursing care to patients within the GP surgery. This includes health promotion, disease prevention, screening, and treatment services. The role involves working collaboratively with the wider primary care team to support patient wellbeing and clinical excellence.
Key Responsibilities Clinical Duties Chronic disease management: diabetes, asthma, COPD, hypertension Health screening: cervical cytology, NHS health checks Immunisations and vaccinations: childhood, travel, seasonal (e.g., flu) Wound care: dressings, suture removal, compression therapy Family planning and sexual health: contraceptive advice, STI screening Smoking cessation and lifestyle advice Administrative & Professional Maintain accurate patient records using clinical systems Participate in audits and quality improvement initiatives Adhere to infection control and safeguarding protocols Engage in clinical supervision and continuing professional development Contribute to the development of practice policies and procedures
