Upton Village Surgery has an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual with at least 2 years of GP nursing experience who is ready to take the next step in their career. In this role, you will play a key part in supporting our nursing team and ensuring the highest standards of patient care.
General Duties:
Act as a chaperone when needed
Administer routine injections
New Patient Medicals/Urinalysis
Nursing of minor ailments
Monitoring blood pressure and Hypertension Management
Cytology
Peak Flow / Spirometry
Performing ECGs
Phlebotomy and INR testing
Requesting pathology tests: urine culture, swabs and blood tests
Wound care
Ulcer care and dressings
Doppler
Removal of Sutures and Clips
Undertake Health Screening, Surveillance and Health Promotion
Provide support to patients in changing behaviours/habits: diet, exercise, alcohol, smoking cessation
Childhood immunisations
Recognise signs, symptoms and categories of child abuse, to be aware of child health procedures, statutory local procedures and points of referral
Chronic Disease Management (Including Diabetes, Asthma, COPD)
Assist in maintaining GP contract regarding chronic disease patients
Work within practice guidelines, ensuring safe practice and acknowledge limitations
Work alongside the practice team to reach/achieve QOF targets

Requirements:
Registered Nurse qualification with valid NMC.
Minimum 2 years' experience in General Practice.
Understand the importance of professional accountability and recognise individual responsibility for professional development.
Continue professional development by reading journals and attending study days and courses, in agreement with the partners.
Avoid professional isolation by attending local practice nurse groups and liaising with other nurses in the area, e.g., within the Primary Care Network (PCN).
Participate in clinical supervision.
Support and participate in shared learning within the practice.

Well-established practice located in the beautiful, historic city of Chester, with excellent schools and within easy reach of Manchester, Liverpool, and North Wales. We are a supportive, high-performing practice situated in a modern purpose-built GP building with a current practice population of 8,000. We are part of a forward thinking and collaborative Primary Care Network, delivering successful services including ARRs roles and shared clinical services.
You will be supported in practice by an experienced and highly skilled clinical team including 5 GPs, ANP, Lead Practice Nurse, Clinical Pharmacists, First Contact Physiotherapists, Mental Health Practitioners, Social Prescribers, Wellbeing Co-ordinator, Care Co-ordinator, as well as an experienced practice management and administration team.
