Vela Medical Group is working in partnership with a well-established, forward-thinking GP surgery in Hemel Hempstead to recruit an
experienced Salaried Practice Nurse
. This opportunity arises following the planned retirement of a long-standing, valued nurse, offering an excellent chance to join a supportive and stable primary care team.

The Role
You will play a key role in delivering high-quality nursing care, supporting patients with both acute and long-term conditions, and contributing to the ongoing development of nursing services within the practice.
This role is available on a
full-time or part-time basis
, with a
minimum commitment of 3 days per week
,
7.5 hours per day
, Monday to Friday between
9am and 6pm
on a rota basis. Working patterns can be discussed at interview.
The GP surgery operates across
two local branches
, and you may be required to work at either site depending on service needs.
Key Responsibilities
Assess, plan, implement and evaluate individualised patient care programmes
Run and support
Asthma, COPD and Diabetes clinics / reviews
Provide treatment room services including:
Phlebotomy
ECG recording
Wound care and dressings
Vaccinations and immunisations (adult and child)
Cervical cytology sampling
Assisting with minor surgery
Spirometry
Support patients with long-term conditions using evidence-based practice
Maintain accurate clinical records and comply with current NHS and NMC standards
Deliver care with compassion, dignity and professionalism at all times
Essential Requirements
Registered Nurse qualification with
current NMC registration (active PIN)
Minimum 1 year post-qualification experience
in a
general practice setting
Completion of the
General Practice Nurse Foundation Programme
(or equivalent experience/qualifications)
Competent in managing
Asthma, COPD and Diabetes clinics
, with relevant certification
Strong treatment room experience
Excellent communication skills with a caring, empathetic approach
Up-to-date knowledge of current NHS and primary care nursing issues
