We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Practice Nurse to join our healthcare team. The successful candidate will play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care within a busy medical practice. The Practice Nurse will be responsible for providing clinical support, assisting with patient assessments, and ensuring smooth practice operations. As a Practice Nurse, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the delivery of primary care services within our practice. You will work closely with GPs, healthcare assistants, and administrative staff to provide holistic and patient-centred care. Your role will include, but is not limited to:
Long term conditions (e.g., asthma, diabetes, hypertension) and preventative health care
Immunisations and vaccinations, including childhood and travel vaccinations
Cervical cytology screening
Health promotion and education
Wound care, dressings, and minor injuries
Family planning and sexual health services
Support in clinical audits and quality improvement initiatives
Assisting with minor procedures and phlebotomy
Provide health education and advice to patients on various health issues
Maintain detailed and confidential patient records in accordance with practice protocols
Support with administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments and managing stock levels of medical supplies
Ensure infection control standards are adhered to at all times
Participate in practice meetings and ongoing professional development activities
Essential Skills & Qualifications:
Registered Nurse with valid NMC registration
Experience working in a primary care or community setting.
Strong clinical skills in chronic disease management, immunisations, and wound care
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to empathise with patients of all ages
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Commitment to professional development and continuous learning
Strong knowledge of human anatomy and clinical procedures
Organised, reliable, and able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
Commitment to maintaining high standards of patient confidentiality and safety
Desirable Skills:
Experience in family planning and sexual health
Knowledge of SystmOne or similar clinical software
Mentorship or teaching qualification
Being involved in clinical research
Non-medical prescriber
