This is a leadership position for a senior nurse to lead and develop our nursing team across The Croft Practice. While not delivering hands-on patient care, you will play a vital leadership role in maintaining and elevating standards of nursing across both practices. You will support the team with supervision, development, and compliance - ensuring excellence in care delivery.
Key responsibilities and accountabilities
Leadership & Management
You will be involved in most aspects of patient care including:
Provide day-to-day leadership and support to the nursing team.
Deliver all nursing team supervisions and annual appraisals.
Coordinate and lead weekly nursing team meetings
Act as the main point of contact for team concerns, welfare, and performance.
Identify individual and team training needs and organise appropriate development sessions.
Run clinics in periods of nursing team absence
Training & Development
Design and oversee induction and ongoing training for nursing staff.
Offer informal coaching and mentoring to nurses, nurse associates, GP Assistants and HCAs to support professional growth.
Ensure all staff complete mandatory training and professional development as required.
Quality, Compliance & Governance
Conduct regular audits across nursing functions, including clinical documentation, patient safety, and infection prevention and control.
Lead on infection control policy and compliance across the practice.
Undertake regular room and equipment checks to ensure a safe and efficient clinical environment.
Manage nursing stock control, including ordering, usage monitoring, and cost-efficiency.
Support the development and implementation of best practice protocols, SOPs, and policies.
Ensure the nursing team meets all CQC and safety standards.
Communication
Work closely with the GP Partners, Heads of Department, and wider MDT to ensure seamless team function.
Represent the nursing team at management meetings where appropriate.

Health & Safety
