As we continue to expand our multidisciplinary services, we are seeking a committed and flexible
Practice Nurse
to join our growing team. This role is ideal for a nurse who enjoys variety, autonomy, and collaborative working across multiple clinical environments.
Role Overview
The successful candidate will work in our AccessU clinics and partner community pharmacies, supporting NHS clinical services, enhancing patient access, and delivering excellent standards of care. You will play a key role in service delivery, staff training, and the development of community-based clinical pathways.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Service Delivery
Conduct remote or face-to-face
travel health risk assessments
, give pre-travel advice, and deliver vaccinations under PGDs.
Provide private immunisations including childhood such as chicken pox, shingles and RSV.
Support and deliver seasonal vaccination activities, including flu and COVID-19 programmes.
Promote preventative health initiatives such as smoking cessation, cholesterol management, diabetes awareness, and lifestyle education across the AccessU network.
Deliver hands-on training for pharmacy and AccessU staff on clinical measurements (BP, height, weight, BMI) to support both independent and NHS services.
Following training on service specification, carry out hypertension screening and blood pressure monitoring within the
NHS Hypertension Case-Finding Service
.
Identify suitable patients for
ABPM
, arrange appointments, fit monitors, interpret results, and act accordingly.
Provide ear health assessments, ear care advice, and ear irrigation (following relevant training).
Quality, Governance & Service Development
Working with the Clinical Services Lead and AccessU management team, you will help ensure consistent standards across all sites:
Infection prevention and control
COSHH compliance
Waste management
Statutory and mandatory training adherence
Clinical competency development for HCAs and pharmacy colleagues
Emergency equipment upkeep
Support for service mobilisation and NHS pathway implementation
Contribution to CQC readiness and quality frameworks
Administrative & Digital Responsibilities
Develop templates, pro formas, and documentation to support service consistency across all Accessu and pharmacy sites.
Use reporting tools to ensure accurate data capture, and collaborate with digital leads to improve clinical dashboards.
Create competency frameworks, quick-reference guides, and tools to support efficient service delivery.
Undertake infection control audits, waste audits, and clinical record audits.
Essential Requirements
Valid
NMC PIN
Immunisation training compliant with National Minimum Standards for Registered Healthcare Practitioners
Experience or formal training in
Travel Medicine
(RCN competencies desirable)
Up-to-date
CPR
and
anaphylaxis
training, or willingness to complete at start of employment
Interest in hands-on clinical work and service development
Confident using Microsoft Office and clinical systems (e.g., EMIS, SystmOne, PharmOutcomes, ProScript)
Ability to work across multiple sites -
Single site working can be considered.
Desirable Skills & Experience
Occupational health training (or willingness to undertake training)
Previous experience in childhood immunisations
Previous leadership or supervisory experience
Experience launching or supporting new clinical services
Familiarity with community pharmacy workflows
Comfortable working under PGDs and following SOPs
Prior experience as a Practice Nurse or in a community clinical setting
