Thaxted Surgeryhas a fantastic opportunity for an experienced practice nurse to join our team on a part-time basis for 24 hours a week. Exact days are negotiable and dependent on the right candidate but will include a 6.00pm finish on a Thursday afternoon.
As a key member of our practice, you will be able to treat patients in your own clinic along with the support of our team of GP's, ANP and ACP, practice nurses, health care assistants, and dispensary and administration teams.
The main responsibilities of the role include:
Undertaking health assessments, administering medication and treatments, and performing diagnostic tests.
Providing and evaluating a range of health interventions to ensure that patients' health and social care needs are met.
General health and well-being promotion as well as creating individual, person-centred plans for patients with, or at risk of, a long term condition.
Managing and treating long-term conditions, in line with national and local policies and the practice needs.
Supporting chronic disease management by performing regular reviews (e.g. diabetes and asthma) as directed by the GP.
Prioritising health problems and intervening appropriately, to assist the patient in complex, urgent or emergency situations, including initiation of effective emergency care.
Supporting and managing the health needs of women presenting for sexual health and contraception, and cervical cytology consultations.
Implementing, and participating in, vaccination and immunisation programmes for both adults and children, including patients travelling abroad.
Meeting the needs of patients presenting for opportunistic wound care.

About the Candidate
All applicants should have the following qualifications, registrations, skills and experience: Current NMC registration with an active PIN.
Competence to undertake asthma and diabetic clinics and reviews.
Evidence of clinical skills and experience in treatment room consultation, phlebotomy, ECG recording, screening, management of long-term conditions, cervical cytology sampling, vaccinations and immunisations, assisting with minor surgery, dressing and wound care.
Compassionate manner with an empathetic approach and demonstrable kindness in all aspects of your work. The successful candidate will value the dignity of our patients, their relatives and carers, as well as their colleagues at the practice.
Knowledge, and experience of its application, in supporting long-term conditions.
Insight and understanding of current issues in nursing and the wider NHS.
