Meet Dr Carly Pointon, Director of Clinical Services:



Since graduating in 2000, Dr Carly Pointon has worked in a variety of psychological settings, bringing with her over 25 years of considerable experience. Starting in Forensic Psychology and then qualifying as a Clinical Psychologist, Carly has worked with charities, HMPS, schools, residential homes, Special Educational Needs settings, the courts and 1000s of children, young people and families. As the creator of Pointon Psychology and a senior operational leader in the United Kingdom, Carly has demonstrated remarkable leadership in providing high impact services by managing sizable clinical teams across several sites and sectors. In her capacity as Head of Clinical Operations for a leading provider, she managed a large team over 100s of locations in the UK, including Scotland and Wales. Carly's enthusiasm for creating ground breaking ideas and cultivating deep connections that improve service delivery characterises her leadership.

Carly's personal journey was shaped by overcoming childhood experiences that shape who she is today, and she is a values driven, sincere, and compassionate leader dedicated to assisting others. Her strong passion in assisting individuals in discovering their own unique and healthy emotional wellbeing is the foundation of Omega Clinical. Apart from her professional responsibilities, Carly actively supports charities such as Nacoa UK and Endometriosis UK, encouraging aspiring Psychologists and motivating women in business.

Carly wants to create a dynamic environment at Omega Clinical where psychological ideas are applied to real world problems and our stakeholder's voices are at the heart of what we provide. As we begin operations in the summer of 2025, Omega Clinical is looking for a committed and driven, experienced qualified clinician who is either a Practitioner Psychologist or Psychotherapist. This is a growing team and further clinicians will be employed as it expands. There are also current adverts for an Assistant Psychologist and Senior Assistant Psychologist out at present. Our school, Foundations For Life has a commissioned Speech and Language Therapist and Occupational Therapist.

Job description:



A skilled and committed Practitioner Psychologist/Psychotherapist is needed by Omega Life Clinical to oversee and conduct direct psychological therapies in our Omega Care Homes, Foundations For Life School and future exciting opportunities. You will be assigned to the children and young people with complex lives, various diagnoses emotional health difficulties, and developmental needs by offering advanced assessments, formulation, intervention and consultancy. The team will also deliver to staff teams, parents, external contracts and other stakeholders.

Working collaboratively with a diverse team, you will have experience of clinical leadership, training, and provision development to guarantee that our services are built on high standards of care. What we're looking for from you;



It is crucial to have prior experience working with children and young people with trauma histories and complex lives. If you feel you possess other relevant or transferable skills please put this on your application.

Training in a relevant therapeutic intervention, e.g. DDP, CBT/DBT, TLSW etc, life story work.

Understanding and practical experience of the assessment and management of behaviours displayed in our settings, for example - self-harm, suicidal ideation, sexually harmful behaviour and substance misuse.

The use of models and approaches such as child development, trauma informed approaches, the Secure Base Model, attachment theory, and ACEs.

Knowledge and understanding of Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, other neurodevelopmental conditions, sensory needs and communication difficulties is important.

Experience of lecturing, training and/or supervision, especially including a passion for developing aspiring psychologists.

Psychotherapist applications - appropriate registration with your governing body, e.g. BACP, UKCP, BPC.

Practitioner Psychologist applications - registered with the HCPC. Applications from clinical/ counselling/ forensic psychologists are all welcome.

Being able to work collegiately with your Speech and Language and Occupational Therapy colleagues.

Providing staff consultation and workshop-based delivery to explore the young person's presentations in a collaborative way is key.

Exceptional abilities in communication and collaboration but in ways which are comfortable to you and support the service to reach it's aims and goals for the children and young people.

Ability to role model behaviours and attitudes in line with organisational values.

IT literacy is invaluable in this role and will support your application, but training can be given.

Understanding of legislative frameworks and regulatory frameworks in all parts of the company.

Must haves:



HCPC Registration (or equivalent where you are a specific Psychotherapist).

Experience providing psychological support or interventions in residential and/or educational settings.

Understanding of and strict adherence to Clinical Governance.

Active Continuing Professional Development and application in the workplace.

Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Strong organisational skills and ability to manage a varied workload.

Knowledge of child protection protocols, safeguarding frameworks within education and understanding the role that clinicians hold in these settings.
