We are pleased to be able to offer a unique opportunity for a Pre-Construction Scoping Engineer to join our Pre-construction team. This is a varied role leading the day-to-day scoping and pricing of minor works with values between \xc2\xa35k - \xc2\xa3200k across the Business contracts at Hinkley Point C. Salary: \xc2\xa350,000 - \xc2\xa360,000

Job Type: Permanent

Hours: Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week

My Responsibilities\xe2\x80\xa6

As the Pre-Construction Scoping Engineer you will oversee the day-to-day scoping and pricing of minor works of value between \xc2\xa35k - \xc2\xa3200k across various disciplines across the Business. You will be responsible for obtaining an accurate scope of works and submitting an estimate to the client for approval.

The main part of your job will be:

  • Site walkover to gather information to provide accurate scope of works and estimates.
  • Accurately identify areas of value engineering and incorporate into scope and estimates.
  • Prepare civil engineering estimates through the interpretation of drawings, specifications, reviewing tender enquiry documents, drawings and schedules.
  • Identifying risks and opportunities within the tender information and potential projects.
  • Proactively managing subcontractor and supply chain relationships with the commercial teams.
  • Consistently achieving a seamless handover from the pre-construction team to the delivery teams.
  • Maintaining an up-to-date awareness of our competitors and how their activity could impact our tender opportunities.
  • Tracking win rates, client feedback, and other metrics, in order to drive improvements in your scoping and pricing.
  • Ad hoc support to the rest of the pre-construction team when you have downtime.

This role involves a wealth of responsibility across a number of exciting projects, so the successful candidate will have a \xe2\x80\x98can do\xe2\x80\x99 attitude, who is confident, driven and self-motivated.

You will be flexible in your approach, willing to question convention and contribute to the successful delivery of services. This is a busy role and you will deal with a range of teams across the business.

To be successful, you\xe2\x80\x99ll need:
  • A background in Civil Engineering
  • MEICA background desirable
  • Water and Waste-Water experience is highly desirable
  • Have an systematic and methodical approach to work
  • Excellent computer skills, with extensive knowledge of Microsoft suite of programs
  • Full UK driving licence
