Salary:

HBHS Band 10 (Up to 43,975.00)

Hours:

Full-time, 37 hours per week (primarily Monday-Friday, 08:00-16:00, with flexibility required)

At Herne Bay High School, we take pride in providing a secure, efficient, and inspiring environment for our students, staff, and visitors. We are looking for a dynamic individual to lead our dedicated premises team and take responsibility for all aspects of site management, health & safety compliance, and facilities operations.

What You'll Be Doing



As our

Premises & Safety Manager

, you will:

Lead and manage a hardworking premises team, including performance reviews, rotas, and task allocation Ensure our buildings and grounds are safe, secure, clean, and well-maintained Act as the school's

Health & Safety Officer

and

Fire Officer

, overseeing all compliance requirements, training, inspections, and drills Monitor and manage the Building Management System (BMS), heating, and air systems to meet operational needs Liaise with contractors and service providers, ensuring value for money and adherence to safety standards Support the smooth running of the school by coordinating lettings, events, and exams logistics Take the lead on sustainability initiatives and contribute to our climate-conscious goals

What We're Looking For



We're seeking someone who:

Has experience in facilities or premises management (ideally in a school or public sector setting) Holds (or is willing to work toward) relevant health & safety qualifications (e.g., IOSH, NEBOSH) Has excellent organisational and leadership skills, with the ability to multitask and stay calm under pressure Is confident managing compliance matters, risk assessments, and contractor supervision Can work flexibly, especially during holidays, special events, or periods of staff absence
