The Governing Board of St Thomas' Church of England Aided Primary School is seeking to appoint a reliable, practical and highly motivated Premises Manager / Caretaker to join our dedicated team.
We are a supportive and welcoming Voluntary Aided Church of England Primary School, situated in the beautiful historic town of Winchelsea. With 147 children on roll, our school is well known for its strong community spirit and inclusive Christian ethos.
This is a part-time role of 20 hours per week, all year round (52-week contract).
During term time, the successful candidate would ideally be available to open the school each morning, Monday to Friday, from around 7:00am, working approximately four hours daily. Although hours can be flexible upon discussion. During school holidays, hours are more flexible and will be arranged to support whole-school projects and maintenance work.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Open and secure the school site daily, ensuring the premises are safe and ready for staff and pupils.
Take responsibility for the day-to-day maintenance, security and upkeep of the school buildings and grounds.
Carry out minor repairs and DIY tasks and liaise with contractors for larger works.
Ensure the school complies with health & safety regulations, including regular checks, record keeping and risk assessments.
Oversee cleaning and site staff, maintaining high standards of cleanliness and presentation.
Maintain the school grounds including grass cutting.
Support the Headteacher and Governors in developing and improving the school site and facilities.
The successful candidate will have:
Practical skills in maintenance, repairs and basic DIY.
An understanding of health & safety regulations and a commitment to safe working practices.
Good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise tasks.
Reliability, flexibility and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
