: Preschool Manager with overall responsibility for the successful running of the preschool

Location: Lydiard Millicent Preschool, The Butts, Lydiard Millicent, Swindon SN5 3LR, Wiltshire, UK

Contract Type: Term Time Only

Place of Work: Preschool office based with a degree of flexibility on hybrid working where appropriate / if desired

Hours: Minimum 28 hours per week - negotiable

Remuneration: Competitive and negotiable depending on experience

Overview: Lydiard Millicent Preschool is seeking a dedicated and experienced Preschool Manager to lead our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the overall management of the preschool, ensuring high standards of care and education for children aged 2.5-5 years.

This role is term time only, aligning with the local school calendar. The Preschool Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the preschool, ensuring a safe, stimulating, and inclusive learning environment for children. They will lead and manage staff, implement the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum - ensuring children's developmental needs are met - and maintain compliance with Ofsted regulations Key Responsibilities (Designed to cover most key responsibilities, but this is not an exhaustive list and other tasks or requirements may arise as appropriate) ?
Leadership and Management: Oversee the daily operations of the preschool, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements and policies, leading to high quality childcare and education ?
Staff Supervision: Manage, support, and develop a team of early years practitioners, fostering a positive and collaborative working environment ?
Recruitment: Recruit, train, and supervise staff in line with ratio requirements ?
Curriculum Development: Implement and oversee a high-quality, child-centred curriculum that promotes learning and development ?
Parent and Community Engagement: Build strong relationships with parents, carers, and the local community, ensuring effective communication and involvement. Organise parent meetings, workshops, preschool open days and community events to foster engagement ?
Financial Management: Manage the preschool's budget, ensuring financial sustainability and accountability. The previous Preschool Manager performed all payroll duties. The committee is open to discussing the potential of outsourcing this function, depending on the successful candidate's preference ?
Health and Safety: Ensure a safe and healthy environment for children, staff, and visitors, adhering to all health and safety regulations ?
Safeguarding: Promote the welfare of children and families, ensuring all safeguarding policies and procedures are followed ?
Performance Management: Implement performance management systems, including induction, probation, supervision, team meetings, appraisals, and objective setting ?
Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records, including attendance registers, accident and incident reports, and children's progress assessments ?
SEND: Support children with special educational needs and disability (SEND) and liaise with external agencies ?
Communication: Ensure effective communication regarding enrolment, fees, and preschool policies ?
Regulatory Compliance & Administration: Ensure the preschool meets all Ofsted requirements and maintains high inspection ratings. Ensure understanding of, and adherence to, the Wiltshire Council Provider Agreement ?
Advertising: Play an active role, alongside the committee, in carrying out all required advertising and marketing functions to ensure child headcount remains at a viable level throughout each academic year

Person Specification - Preferably Level 7 Early Years qualification, or at least a minimum of Level 3 with ambitions to progress to Level 7 over time. Safeguarding, first aid and safer recruitment training preferred ? Qualifications: Minimum Level 3 Early Years qualification (or equivalent). A degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field is desirable ?

Experience: Proven experience of at least 2 years in a managerial role within an early years setting. Experience with curriculum planning is essential. Experience of Quick Books would be an advantage, but training can be provided ?
Skills: Strong leadership and organisational skills, excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, and a thorough understanding of early childhood development and education ?
Personal Attributes: Passionate about early years education, approachable, empathetic, and committed to continuous professional development. Friendly and well organised ?
Knowledge: Strong knowledge of EYFS framework, safeguarding policies, and Ofsted regulations ?
DBS: DBS certification and clearance is an absolute must
Salary Range The expected salary range for this position is competitive and dependant on qualifications and experience
