Role Purpose

This role holds keyperson responsibilities.
Main Responsibilities
To ensure that the playgroup is a safe environment for children, that equipment is safe, standards of hygiene are high, and safety procedures are always implemented.
To ensure that the playroom and outside area are set up ready for when the children arrive.
Ensure the playgroup inside and outside is clean and tidy at the end of each session ready for the next
To contribute to and lead playgroup activities, supporting children through scaffolded learning as required.
To ensure that all paperwork for your key children is completed and kept up to date to a high standard. This includes all the paperwork required by Ofsted and the Early Years Framework
To understand the next steps in your key children's learning and facilitate this with planned and in the moment experiences.
To work closely with the children, other members of staff and parents.
To help ensure there is a good, happy, and positive atmosphere at all sessions.
Take time to listen and respond to children, encourage participation, and support them in their development and play.
To maintain confidentiality and to maintain a professional persona both in person and with your online presence.
To maintain equality of opportunity for all children within the playgroup
To help with light cleaning duties (between and after sessions) and light gardening when required.
The Children
To be the key person for a group of children at the playgroup, to be responsible for those children and to ensure that their progress is regularly observed and effectively assessed on our online
Learning Journal (Tapestry). You will be expected to celebrate the child's achievements with their parents/carers and work together with them to provide appropriately for their child's wellbeing, enabling them to make progress.
To communicate with parents/carers, informing them about the playgroup and its curriculum, exchanging information about their child's progress and encouraging parental involvement.
To follow guidelines and procedures for child protection as recommended by the registering authority; report any accidents or incidents to the playgroup leader
To ensure that all children benefit from indoor and outdoor play.
To assist with the personal care of all children.
Records and Planning
To participate and help monitor the effectiveness of the room/outside area and provisions to ensure that children are always stimulated and engaged in activities. To be confident to add to the daily provision planning to reflect the learning that has taken place that day in the setting with exciting and challenging additions.
As part of a team, ensure records are properly maintained, such as: daily attendance register, accident & incident report books.
To read and be familiar with the playgroup's policies and the statutory requirements for daily care.
To contribute to, suggest changes and implement all playgroup policies and procedures.
To attend and contribute at staff meetings. This will regularly include supervision meetings where targets will be set, and further study maybe required to meet these.
To maintain documentation in accordance with GDPR.
To keep confidential any information regarding children, their families or other staff members.
Other Agencies
To liaise with Social Services and other professionals as necessary under the instruction of the
DSL/manager
Training
To undertake regular online courses and practical training as required. Additionally, up to date safeguarding and prevent training will be required if these have lapsed.
To attend all staff development days
Probationary Period: Six Months
An enhanced DBS check is required for this role. Applicants must be prepared to disclose any convictions they may have and any orders which have been made against them.
The successful candidate will only be appointed once two satisfactory professional references and a DBS have been obtained
