Role Overview
As a Room Leader, you will be responsible for the
day-to-day running and supervision of the Pre-School room
. You will play a key role in providing high-quality care and education, leading staff within the room, and supporting children's learning and development in line with the
EYFS
.
You will be a
creative, reflective, and motivated leader
, confident in implementing new ideas, improving practice, and working closely with the management team.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and supervise the daily running of the Pre-School room
Create and maintain a
stimulating, safe, and enabling learning environment
Supervise, support, and develop staff within the room
Act as a
key person
for a small group of children
Observe, assess, and plan for children's learning, completing Learning Journeys, next steps, and written reports
Attend
parents' evenings (3 per year)
and communicate effectively with parents/carers
Plan and support activities in line with the
EYFS
, ensuring children's interests, choices, and enjoyment are central
Implement all playgroup policies, including safeguarding and health & safety
Attend staff meetings, planning meetings, and training as required
Act as a positive role model for children and colleagues
Essential Requirements
Minimum Level 3 qualification in Early Years
Previous
supervisory experience
within an early years setting
Strong knowledge and understanding of the
EYFS
Ability to work effectively as part of a team
Excellent communication skills with staff and parents/carers
Must be
18 years or over
(due to key holder responsibilities)
Desirable Qualifications & Experience
Safeguarding training
Paediatric First Aid
Food Hygiene certificate
Experience leading or supervising a room
