The perfect candidate for the position:

We are looking for someone who is ambitious, creative and passionate about working with people and supporting our organisation's growth. The successful candidate will work well as part of a small team as well as individually to deliver their own work, and have a strong work ethic. We are looking for a driven individual with excellent communication and written skills, with the confidence to make connections with press and radio, build relationships with local businesses and be a spokesperson for the organisation. You will help contribute to all Worcester Theatres marketing campaigns, driving sales and increasing awareness of Worcester Theatres' events, programmes and projects.

The Purpose of the Role:

To support the Marketing Team to promote Worcester Theatres as a company, our venues, the events and outreach programmes taking place and the Worcester Repertory Company productions. To use communication and strategy to help grow our audiences and increase visibility, ensuring attendance and enabling financial targets to be met by the team.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Supporting the Marketing Manager and team with the creation and management of effective marketing campaigns for all shows and projects. Liaising with external suppliers involved in the delivery of marketing campaign activity (e.g. promoters, producers, schools, advertisers, external designers etc.) To lead on the planning and execution of direct mails, such as newsletters, e-shots, press releases, emails to schools, other external groups etc., creating an effective strategy to drive sales and raise awareness across the year. To Support the Marketing Assistant in the creation and delivery of direct mails. To successfully plan, create and publish Meta ads for Worcester Theatres and external promoters and producers, as well as offering support and advice on how best to utilise budgets and content to create effective advertisements. Monitoring of campaign effectiveness and audience trends via data analysis from the ticketing system, Google Analytics etc. Copywriting and proofreading as required and to a high standard. To assist the marketing team through general administrational tasks, including updating and overseeing the various internal marketing schedules and reporting spreadsheets. Taking photos and video when required (within reason), for use on social media, the Worcester Theatres website, internal and external advertising, Worcester Theatres documents etc. To assist with the production of in-house designs, signage and create artwork for Worcester Rep performances and programmes when required.
DIGITAL

To create, update and be responsible for digital communications both internal and external, ensuring accuracy of information at all times. To update and create assets for the Worcester Theatres website, ensuring accuracy of information and maximisation of on-line sales at all times. Interacting with audiences via comments and messaging portals (some out of hours monitoring may be required, within reason). Careful handling of any customer data, ensuring all data activity is GDPR compliant. In conjunction with the wider Marketing team, help plan, write/direct and edit video content for Worcester Theatres channels (social media, Meta ads, website, YouTube etc.)
PR & PUBLICITY

To support and participate in all promotional and press events. To proactively pursue promotional opportunities and develop relationships with local businesses and organisations. To write and circulate press releases for shows and projects, supplying appropriate imagery and additional resources where possible. To take a leading role in the development and maintenance of relationships with local and national media outlets. To attend networking opportunities where possible, furthering the reach of Worcester Theatres and pushing our brand forward.
GENERAL

Liaising with all departments internally. Liaising with the Box office team to ensure the correct marketing activities are in place to ensure targeted approaches to drive sales. To attend appropriate training courses, in the interests of maintaining awareness of current trends and furthering your own, as well as the team's, knowledge and development. Monitoring sales and supporting the Marketing team in creating effective campaign strategies based on sales reports. To represent the Marketing Department as required at meetings, promotions and events both internal and external. Adherence to all Company Health & Safety at Work procedures, to minimise the risk of injury and accidents, personal and to others. Any other related duties and responsibilities as may reasonably, from time to time, be required by senior members of the team. To carry out work in the evenings and on weekends when required, within reason.

REQUIREMENTS



Essential



At least 1 year of experience in a Marketing role. Experience with email marketing platforms (e.g. Mailchimp, newsletters etc.). Excellent written and organisational skills. Excellent communication skills in person, over the phone and digitally. High standard of creative writing and proof-reading skills. Experience using design software such as Canva to create designs/digital content. Good computer skills and experience using Microsoft Word and Excel. Competent user of all social media platforms. A desire to work as part of a team, and the ability to work well as an individual. A team player who is personable, diplomatic and can communicate effectively with people at all levels, both internally and externally. Ability to remain calm whilst working under pressure. A desire to continuously maintain high standards across all areas of work. Ability to be creative and bring new ideas to the team that will support the Marketing department and grow Worcester Theatres' audiences, both online and in person. Ability to work some evenings and weekends when required, within reason.

Desirable



Experience creating Meta Ads and boosting posts. Previous experience communicating with the press/PR. A good eye for design and what makes eye catching and aesthetically pleasing content. Experience taking photographs and video, other than for personal use. Experience using Adobe software. Experience using CMS systems (used to create and publish web content). Experience training and being responsible for junior colleagues/members of the team. Educated to degree level. Previous experience working in a theatre/cultural setting. Local knowledge of the area. Existing press and radio contacts. Full driving licence.

Remuneration and Terms:



This is a full-time post with a salary of 25,604.80

The post has an annual leave entitlement of 22 days holiday per annum, plus 8 statutory bank holidays and your birthday as an additional day off/wellbeing days holiday each year. This entitlement increases to 24 days, plus bank holidays and birthday, after 5 years service. Staff are automatically enrolled in the company pension scheme.

Due to the nature of the business, the post may require some hours to be worked outside normal working hours. Time off in lieu will be accrued on these occasions to be taken during quieter business times as agreed by the Marketing Manager.

Worcester Theatres

operates the Swan Theatre and Huntingdon Hall in Worcester, both of which have several shows visit a week on average. The organisation produces several in house productions a year via our professional theatre company the Worcester Repertory Company, as well as a youth cohort the Young Rep who also perform at our venues throughout the year. Worcester Theatres also have a large programme of Outreach work with many classes taking place each week, artist development programmes, community led projects, work with schools, workshops and more happening all year.

The Swan Theatre

is a 360 seat theatre with a proscenium arch stage, presenting a professional drama, music, dance, comedy and children's theatre programme, whilst also offering community performance events. It also has a studio theatre, Swan Studio, which is housed in a separate block adjacent to the main theatre which seats 60 and is used for Worcester Theatres' professional repertory company, the Worcester Rep, our Resident Theatre Company Vamos Theatre, Emerging Artists project Platform WR1, and is also used by touring and amateur companies. The Studio block also contains a rehearsal studio, the Bransford Studio, which is hired out for daytime and evening hires for community classes and a workshop space.

Huntingdon Hall

is a grade two listed converted Methodist chapel which is now used as a 350 seat venue staging, music, spoken word, comedy and theatrical productions. It is a very popular venue, unique in its style and regularly sees A-listed comedians visiting. It also has a varied and diverse music programme and artists who use the venue, do so, due to its amazing acoustics and the intimacy of the venue.

Both venues have been undergoing a revision of their usage; programming is being reviewed and refreshed to reflect the diversity of the city of Worcester to ensure that we are providing more for all walks of life at both venues, whilst also looking at ways of broadening how we work with other artists and arts organisations in the city and beyond.

Worcester Repertory Company

is our theatre producing arm and currently produces an open air production with a run in July at the Commandery, a run of a Shakespeare production or classic in the autumn, a pantomime at the Swan Theatre (which sees attendees 19,000+), Studio productions (spring, autumn and winter) usually of new writing and children's theatre. The Worcester Rep also work on additional main stage and Studio work as decided by the Chief Executive/Artistic Director at either or both venues, and these can often be co-productions.
