Our team in Wigan and Leigh is looking for a Prevention and Engagement Outreach Worker to join them in providing high-quality recovery care to a diverse client group. This is a fixed term contract, until September 2026.



As a leading charity supporting people with drug, alcohol, and mental health challenges, we operate over 80 services across England and Scotland, providing free and confidential support to more than 100,000 people each year.



Our vibrant services in Wigan and Leigh provide support to people concerned about their own or someone else's alcohol or drug use. We have services in both Wigan and Leigh but much of our work is carried out in the local communities we serve. Check out what our sites have to offer

You will act as a first point of contact for clients to ensure that they are able



to access appropriate services and treatment efficiently and promptly, working as part of a service team and working in close partnership with other health care professionals, partner agencies, service commissioners and internal clinical/mental health teams.



Key duties will include:



Supporting the day to day operation of services through the delivery of appropriate evidence based interventions

Assisting in the delivery of an integrated service through the provision of assessment, recovery planning, appropriate referral, support, care coordination and interventions

Assessing clients, carrying out triage and comprehensive assessment as required and making appropriate onward referrals to specialist agencies

Assessing and managing risk, ensuring a safe and appropriate environment for all

Supporting with the arranging of appointments, coordination of referrals and telephone answering to provide an efficient information service to service users

Providing an effective and accurate data entry service for the service including the production of basic statistical reports

Essential Skills



You will have experience of working in a health social care and/or substance misuse setting, including working with complex clients, providing harm reduction and liaising with needle and syringe programmes. We are looking for a positive and motivated individual, who is able to confidently deliver training to professionals and communicate with a wide range of stakeholders across different settings. You will also be results driven and highly organised, with excellent time management and caseload management skills, including risk assessments, care plans and PSI interventions.



A full UK driving licence and access to your own car is essential, due to the outreach requirements of this role.
