The Amazon Prime Video Experience Design team is seeking a self-motivated, ownership-minded, and nimble Principal Design Program Manager to drive strategic planning and execution across key Prime Video business areas. In order to be successful, this person will need to bring along cross organization stakeholders to gain their buy-in and support. The ideal candidate will exhibit leadership, high judgment, the ability to influence, and exceptional organization and communication skills.
You will collaborate closely with designers, researchers, engineers, product managers, and other program managers leading projects throughout the planning, design, and development cycle. You will be a key part of a Experience Design team collaborating across all aspects of the Prime Video service. We push design and product thinking to the technical edge where vision may be unclear and product ideas risky, but opportunities to bring novel UX are abundant. Be a strong design advocate across the entire Prime Video team and a bar raiser for quality of work.
Work across design verticals to standardize and educate others on design systems and visual languages.
Analyze customer problems and design delightful solutions that meet measurable business goals.
Work closely with product teams to develop use cases and high-level requirements.
Quickly, yet thoroughly, create process flows, wireframes, and visual design mockups as needed to effectively conceptualize and communicate detailed interaction behaviors.
Create user-centered designs by considering market analysis, customer feedback, site metrics, and usability findings.
Develop and maintain detailed user-interface specifications.
Present design work to the user experience team, product team, and project stakeholders for review and feedback.
Partner with development teams to build experiences: provide appropriate design specifications, create assets, and review finished interfaces.
Key job responsibilities
Partner with Design leadership in key project decision-making, including: requirements gathering, scheduling, design roadmap management, resource allocation, and coordination of teams and reviews
Program manage key Design projects
Lead design delivery by managing team backlogs and removing obstacles, coordinating reviews with stakeholders and leadership, communicating team status, and empowering designers to own their timelines
Act as a bridge between Design, Engineering, and Product Management (PM) teams and other cross functional team members, connecting various groups and making sure interdependencies are understood and planned for
Anticipate bottlenecks, provide escalation management, and balance the customer needs versus business goals and technical constraints
Implement durable and repeatable processes and tools to help us prioritize, plan and manage multiple parallel projects across the team and our stakeholders
Standardize, socialize, and continuously improve our user-centered design process
Enable creative solutions by leveraging design acumen, high judgement, and knowledge of business and customer experience best practices
Define success metrics and be responsible for ensuring their implementation for all our work
Promote a sense of transparency, visibility, and community among our team
Navigate and prioritize evolving initiatives in a fast-paced environment
About the team
Prime Video's vision is to be the world's most loved premium video service, and in doing so to become the default entertainment hub, globally for customers. The PV Experience Design (PVXD) team's role is to reduce complexity and design fun, easy-to-use apps, where customers love to watch our content.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
8+ years of UX Design Project/Program Management and/or Design Ops experience in design organizations
8+ years of working cross functionally with design, product and tech teams experience
Experience operationalizing and maturing UX Design organizations within a complex and ambiguous corporate environment.
Experience owning program strategy and end to end delivery, including defining program requirements and using data and metrics to determine improvements
Experience working with, presenting to, and influencing senior executives up to VP level
