Hybrid Working (based at County Hall, at home and with travel across Somerset) 33 days annual leave per year (plus bank holidays) Employment contract: Permanent Salary: 49,282 per annum


What will I be doing?



You'll be managing and leading on estate management issues relating to Somerset Council's property portfolio. This will involve acting as Somerset Council's principal professional advisor on strategic and operational estate management matters.



Alongside other senior managers, you will be shaping and developing our whole asset management strategy, leading on decision making and ensuring strategic and financial objectives are all met.



You'll be preparing the strategies for both the acquisition and disposals of land and property. This will include exploring opportunities to increase our commercial assets, while negotiating terms for purchases, sales and leases across the portfolio. You'll also be negotiating acquisitions and disposals for our redevelopment schemes.



There will also be opportunities to help support further service and strategic objectives effectively. For example, you can help ensure that developer contributions support the provision of education places, or you will be supporting strategies that help support urban regeneration. This means that you can improve our social value as well as our commercial value.



You'll also be responsible for keeping abreast of changes to relevant legislation, regulations and professional practice. Using your knowledge of property law, you will provide expert advice to our Asset Management Group to aid the direction of its strategy, as well as providing advice to other Council services, property tenants and members of the public on property related matters.

What kind of experience or qualifications do I need?



We offer ongoing support, training and guidance to help you be the best you can be. But it will really help if you have


+ An extensive experience in estate management, including property acquisitions and disposals. + A comprehensive understanding of property law and estate management principles.
+ Knowledge of asset management strategies and experience in developing asset management plans.
+ Knowledge of property acquisition and disposal processes, and experience in negotiating terms for property transactions.
+ A membership with the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).
+ A Bachelor's Degree in real estate, Property Management, Surveying or a related discipline.
