We have an opportunity for a
Principal Highway Engineer
to join our multi discipline workforce at Align Property Services.
As a Principal Highway Engineer, you will use your specialist engineering knowledge and experience to lead members of the team as we plan project work and resources as well as providing support to the Team Manager on various design and maintenance duties. You will collaborate with colleagues across our multi-discipled workforce and our clients, from our Local Authority partners, North Yorkshire Council as well as private sector clients where you can share your knowledge as well as develop your own skills.

Align Property Services is a Limited Company, wholly owned by North Yorkshire Council and we are one of the largest multi-discipline building design consultancies in the North of England. We are collaborative in the way we work, offering a broad range of services in Architecture, Sustainability, Building Surveying, Project Management, Civil & Structural, Transport Planning, Bridges, Highways & Drainage Engineering, Mechanical & Electrical Engineering, Quantity Surveying, CDM, Property Advisory & Estate Management.
We are dynamic and diverse in our approach to projects, from condition surveys of small garden retaining walls to designing multi-million-pound structures including schools, historic structures, fire stations, care homes and other public and commercial buildings across the UK. We are in continuous development of new projects with North Yorkshire Council and other public and private sector clients, and it is an exciting time to join us as we continue to evolve.
To be successful in this position, you will have:
A degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent in an appropriate discipline, with substantial experience working in this field.
A proven track record in the application, principles, theory and practice of the specialist area of responsibility such as UK standards, adoptable standards and guidelines and specifications relating to the area of expertise
Substantial experience within an engineering consultancy or highway management organisation
A sound knowledge and experience of managing construction contracts in the roles of NEC Project Manager and NEC Supervisor preferably qualified with NEC3 or NEC4 Project Manager Accreditation
The ability to lead and direct early career staff or oversee packages of work
It would also be desirable to have gained Professional registration as an Incorporated Engineer (IEng), Chartered Engineer (CEng) or working towards this status.
