About the Opportunity

Due to our expanding portfolio and long-term local framework expansion, we have an exciting opportunity for a Principal Mechanical Engineer (Building Services) to join our Midlands multi-disciplinary buildings team in Birmingham. We are looking for a person who is looking to further develop their experience and responsibilities within the Building Services sector within our Birmingham Office portfolio.

As part of our multi-disciplinary design consultancy in Birmingham our Building Services team are involved in a variety of planned and reactive maintenance, refurbishment and new build projects including several multi-million-pound development schemes and framework agreements within the construction industry. These consist of multi-residential high, medium and low-rise infrastructure replacement projects, district heating upgrades, as well as education-based projects including new build schools and student accommodation both design and technical adviser roles.

We are seeking a strategic thinker who can coordinate the designs of mechanical building services projects, providing an oversight of the project performance alongside an appreciation of quality assurance and business management. You should have considerable experience working within building services engineering design within a consultancy, coupled with sound working knowledge of AutoCad & Revit MEP and thermal modelling software. There is a requirment to coordinate teams and mentor/coach more junior employees, being able to comfortably support the team whilst maintaining standards in work and efficiency.

You will report to the Regional MEP Lead where you will be responsible for the support of your team, as well as being client facing demonstrating professionalism and an inquisitive approach with a desire to explore innovative ideas, whilst still understanding the need for a good commercial balance.

UK and international travel may be required depending on projects and client requirements. Here\xe2\x80\x99s What You\xe2\x80\x99ll Need:

  • MCIBSE accreditation or working towards
  • Qualification to Degree Standard in a relevant discipline, or equivalent experience and knowledge
  • Knowledge and experience of UK regulations
  • Sustainable technology integration knowledge and experience.
  • Good communication skills
  • Project Management experience.
  • An enquiring approach with a desire to explore innovative ideas whilst still understanding the need for a good commercial balance
