This post is a fantastic opportunity for a highly motivated, enthusiastic, experienced pharmacist with strategic vision, drive and excellent clinical and leadership skills to work as a Principal Pharmacist in Haematology & Oncology.



As one of the Principal Pharmacists in Haematology & Oncology for King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, the post holder will have leadership and management responsibility for the development and delivery of effective pharmacy services for haematology & oncology, including supporting the clinical delivery of Advanced Therapy Medicinal Products (ATMPs) within these clinical specialities. The focus of the post is on ensuring the provision of high quality, safe, comprehensive (clinical, supply, financial and operational) pharmaceutical services to the Division, in accordance with Trust priorities.

The post holder is responsible for



Acting as a specialist role model and as an expert in haematology & oncology and demonstrating an advanced level of knowledge in the field

Ensuring the safe, efficacious and cost-effective use of drugs within the Care Group

Ensuring a high level of clinical input across the Care Group

Ensuring the daily operations of the Pharmacy haematology & oncology team meet the needs of service users

Acting as the joint pharmacy lead for haematology & oncology services

Developing and implementing guidelines and policies for the use of medicines

Regular financial reporting, drug usage and expenditure forecasting

Developing the pharmacy service to the Care Group

Teaching and training within the Trust and externally

Initiating and coordinating research and development activity within the specialist area

Identifying a vision for the delivery of pharmaceutical services to the Care Group

Identifying and promoting best practice

Deputise for the Consultant Pharmacist, Haematology



Act as a specialist role model and an expert in the medical management within haematology & oncology & ensure a high level of clinical input across the Care Group



Lead and manage clinical pharmacy services in haematology & oncology in conjunction with the other Principal Pharmacist. Lead and share expertise where required for the development of services within the Division.



Ensure the safe, efficacious and cost-effective use of drugs within haematology & oncology



Development, implementation & audit of guidelines and policies for the use of drugs



Regular financial reporting, drug usage and expenditure forecasting, and drug budget management



Developing the pharmacy service within haematology & oncology & to work with the Consultant Pharmacist to extend the boundaries of professional practice within the Care Group



Initiating and coordinating research and development activity within the specialist area



Identifying a vision for the delivery of pharmaceutical services to the Care Group



Identifying and promoting best practice



Act as a pharmacist independent prescriber to optimise the care of patients within haematology & oncology.



Provide patient and carer education and close liaison across the interface



Provide education and training of healthcare professionals within and outside the Trust.
