Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and experienced pharmacist to be our inpatient ward pharmacy service lead. This role offers the opportunity to engage and work collaboratively at all levels within the organisation and system.



As a member of the pharmacy leadership team, you will be responsible for oversight and improvement of our pharmacy service to our inpatient wards.



You will have a clear vision for pharmacist prescribing on inpatient wards, relevant knowledge and experience, and experience working as a clinical pharmacist in mental health services.

As the Lead Pharmacist on the inpatient unit the postholder will establish and develop a clinical model of working as a Non-Medical Prescriber on a designated acute mental health in-patient unit in order to ensure that appropriate medicines optimisation takes place across the whole of the patient pathway on the unit



They are the expert in prescribing and the use of medicines, providing a link between clinical practice and service development by creating new models for delivering patient care ensuring the best experience and outcomes for patients from their medicines whenever and wherever their care is delivered



Development and implementation of medicines related policies and guidelines and lead on groups/committees for ratification such as Medicines Management and Safety Group, Clinical Board and Drug and Therapeutics Committee.



Liaise with key stakeholders on the impact of new medicines and therapeutic options on the local health economy.
