Wood is recruiting for a Principal Structural Engineer to join its Upstream business within our Operations team focusing on providing structural engineering support to the Client contract and execute work in accordance with applicable contract procedures, client and project standards.


Hybrid - 3 days/ week in Aberdeen office



The Role



We are currently growing our project and modification portfolio which includes projects in full lifecycles ranging from early Study / FEED into detail design.


In this role, the Principal Structural Engineer will use their technical knowledge to perform engineering assignments and produce engineering deliverables.



Provide Structural Design Expertise Provide input to structural and layout studies Define structural design requirements for technical scopes Development of deliverables and documentation required for use in offshore work packs and in the supply chain Support the development of and/or develop requisitions for the procurement of structural related material and equipment Perform Structural analysis within STAAD software Undertake design checking of structural deliverables Provide support to the Lead Structural Engineer and the project delivery team Provide structural design technical expertise to the project Resolve structural related design issues by applying accepted principles, codes and standards Adhere to procedures to assure technical integrity of structural designs Provide support for interdisciplinary considerations through attendance at required design reviews and undertaking inter discipline checking Maintain own knowledge and understanding to meet competence requirements of Principal structural Designer Provide feedback on lessons learnt to aide in continuous improvement Utilize software tools in design development and checking (eg, Navisworks , E3D, Hexagon, MathCAD, STAAD) Assess progress and associated reports and advise of any slippages, correct inefficiency and take any resulting agreed actions Provide Structural Design Expertise

Expected:



Degree in engineering discipline, alternatively, tertiary level education combined with suitable industry experience can be used to demonstrate equivalence professional knowledge and extensive progressive experience in general engineering Ability to discover issues and recommend solutions to technical and commercial issues uncovered during course of performing assignments Proficient user of relevant software and calculation templates Professional level of ability in the application of standards, processes and procedures and how they are used in work execution Chartered Engineer (or working towards)
