Job Description

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced print finisher to join our expanding production team.

We are a creative production agency, trusted since 1884. Our in-house print production department is a core part of our business and includes B2 lithographic printing and digital printing alongside an extensive range of finishing. We are currently looking for an experienced print finisher to join this department to enhance our skilled team.

Experience within the industry, especially in print finishing, is essential.

Job overview



You will be working with a demanding team in a busy department. You will be operating a range of finishing equipment including guillotine, booklet maker, perfect binder and folder. A key part of the role is to maximise the efficiency of the equipment, ensuring high quality standards are maintained whilst adhering to health and safety regulations.

The role is for an experienced print finisher and will require using a range of specialist equipment and skills including:

Guillotine Polar 92N with supporting equipment MBO Folder Horizon Stitchliner Booklet Maker Horizon Perfect Binder BQ 270 Heidelberg Cylinders Heidelberg Platen General hand bindery skills
This position requires a high degree of responsibility, and it will carry the authority to ensure that work is carried out to the full. You will set a good example to direct reports and other members of staff. You will be required to uphold, safeguard and promote the Company's vision and values and beliefs relating particularly to ethics, integrity, environmental and social responsibilities.

Key responsibilities



Ensure individual jobs meet the required specifications as per job instructions. Conform with company ISO 9001 quality standards. Conform with company ISO 14001 environmental standards. Maximising departmental efficiency by producing jobs in the most cost-effective way with the minimum of wastage. Develop and instigate good working practices. Manage your own and assist colleagues' workloads. Communicate with other departments, production leads and client support team with regards to quality and scheduling of work. Make decisions based on cost, quality and effectiveness. Support the despatch team, including driving company vehicles (a valid driving licence is required). Health and safety as per company and departmental procedures. Monitor and report repairs and maintenance of bindery equipment. Maintaining a good relationship with staff, suppliers and customers. The safe handling and storage of chemicals (COSH). Stock control and ordering of all binding room consumables and materials. Develop personal skills and capability through ongoing training, as provided by the company or external providers.

Skills, attitudes and experience



Pro-active approach. Ability to work well within a team. Ability to work to tight deadlines. Ability to work independently, flexibly and with a high degree of initiative. Good organisational and time management skills. Adaptable and flexible to shift changes (with prior notice given). Need to be able to improvise and think on your feet and to resolve problems under your own initiative. Excellent communication skills with the ability to clearly express to others what is expected of them. Have a structured approach to working, set and follow a routine. Experience of print finishing is essential.

Details



The job will be a salaried position, based on the below.

37.5 hour week / 7.5 hour day (standard 5 day working week).

Shifts will vary and are between 6.00am - 6.00pm.

We operate a 9-day working fortnight pattern which is optional.

26 days holiday per year (half a day per week worked) + Bank Holidays.

Any overtime will be paid at a standard time and a half rate.
