The NHS Dental Foundation Training year is a valuable stepping stone for graduates -- but it is focused on NHS systems and constraints.

Our Private Practice Foundation Year gives newly qualified dentists the same structure, mentorship, and skills development, but tailored to the realities and opportunities of private dentistry.

Programme Highlights

12-month structured training mirroring highly skilled clinicians One-to-one mentorship from experienced private clinicians and principal dentist Full exposure to advanced restorative, cosmetic, and elective treatments Business, communication, and treatment planning skills for private practice success Based in beautiful Cornwall, offering a fantastic lifestyle alongside career growth

Curriculum Overview

Clinical Modules:

Comprehensive diagnostics & treatment planning Advanced restorative techniques (composites, crowns, bridges) Cosmetic dentistry (bonding, whitening, veneers, smile design) Endodontics using modern rotary systems Prosthodontics (dentures, occlusion, complex case sequencing) Periodontal therapy & maintenance plans Oral surgery including surgical extractions & suturing Introduction to digital dentistry & photography
Non-Clinical Modules:

Patient communication & consent in private dentistry Financial discussions & case presentation skills Time management & productivity Marketing & practice growth principles Ethics, governance & professional development

Assessment & Certification

At the end of the programme, you will:

Present a portfolio of completed cases Complete a clinical audit or quality improvement project Gain a reference highlighting competencies achieved, ideal for future associate positions
