Job Description

Purpose of the Role:

To operate the AD plant safely and efficiently on a day-to-day basis, focusing on waste intake, feeding systems, plant monitoring, and general site cleanliness.

Collection of wastes and delivery of empty containers.

Key Responsibilities Waste Reception & Feeding

Receive and unload incoming feedstock (food waste, slurry, or organics). Check incoming materials for contamination and record deliveries. Operate loading equipment (pumps, hoppers) to feed the digester. Ensure paperwork has relevant information on incoming loads De-packaging of some wastes

Plant Operation & Monitoring

Carry out routine site walkarounds to check tanks, pumps, oil levels and pipework. Monitor and record temperatures, pressures, and gas levels on control panels. Daily plant checks and recording. CCP checks

Basic Maintenance & Fault Reporting

Perform simple tasks such as filter cleaning, topping up of oils, or greasing moving parts. Identify leaks, blockages, or unusual noises and report to senior team members.

Digestate & Output Management

Assist with digestate transfer to tankers. Make sure valves and pumps are set correctly during loading or export. Sampling of digestate

Health, Safety & Housekeeping

Follow all site safety procedures, including confined space, gas awareness, and PPE rules. Keep working areas clean, clear, and free from hazards.

Skills & Experience

Experience in an industrial, agricultural, waste, or energy environment. Ability to operate plant equipment safely and follow procedures. Good awareness of health and safety standards. Valid Forklift / telehandler certificate- desirable Clean drivers licence.

Hands-on and practical with a proactive attitude. Reliable and able to work independently when required. Safety-conscious and willing to follow protocols. Willing to work outside in all weather conditions.
