Process Technician:

The Impact You'll Have On The Organization and World

Drive Operational Excellence: Ensure the safe and efficient manufacture of amino resins and formaldehyde, directly contributing to the consistent delivery of high-quality products to customers. Champion Safety and Compliance: Uphold critical safety standards and COMAH regulations, playing a key role in maintaining a safe working environment and supporting Bakelite's commitment to health, safety, and environmental stewardship. Support Process Reliability: Monitor and troubleshoot complex plant systems and utilities, helping to minimize downtime and optimize production performance through proactive problem-solving and SAP reporting. Enable Continuous Improvement: Participate in training, quality initiatives, and cross-functional meetings to enhance operational knowledge and contribute to ongoing improvements in product quality and plant efficiency. Strengthen Team Collaboration: Work closely with Senior Process Technicians and the wider production team to ensure seamless shift transitions, effective communication, and a unified approach to achieving production goals.

In this role, you'll be located in a dynamic industrial location nestled in the heart of Scotland.

As part of the FPD EU team, you'll work on-site at a key Bakelite facility driving sustainability and safety in a setting that values local collaboration and global impact. You'll be part of a dedicated team in a close-knit community, with access to beautiful Scottish landscapes and rich cultural heritage.



What does a Typical Day Look Like? Here are your primary responsibilities:

Monitor and control process parameters using control systems. Perform routine inspections and maintenance of equipment. Collect and analyse samples to ensure product quality. Document operational data and report deviations. Participate in safety meetings and training sessions. Assist in troubleshooting and resolving process issues. Coordinate with team members to ensure smooth shift transitions.

What is Needed to be Successful in this Role (Required Skills/Abilities):

Educated to Higher level / HNC / HND in scientific or engineering discipline or relevant experience (time served). Experience of working in industrial setting / plant operations. Knowledge of Health and Safety. Knowledge of Permit to Work System. Knowledge of COMAH regulations and requirements (desired). Knowledge of Quality Management System (ISO9001). Experience using basic computer packages (word, excel etc.) Experience in operation of plant control systems (DCS or similar) Experience in using SAP (desired) Experience in process and final product testing (not essential as training will be given to develop the required standard laboratory analysis skills allowing testing in accordance with material specifications). Experience of driving heavy plant machinery (preferred but not essential).
